On December 6, Dao Duy Tu ward organized the Temple Festival of Grand Master Hoang Quoc Cong Dao Duy Tu in 2025, commemorating the 391st anniversary of the death of the cultural and military celebrity Grand Master Hoang Quoc Cong Dao Duy Tu (October 17, Giap Tuat year 1634 - October 17, At Ty year 2025).

According to historical records, Dao Duy Tu, whose given name was Loc Khe, was born in the year of Nham Than (1572), in Hoa Trai village (later renamed No Giap village), Van Trai commune, Ngoc Son district, Tinh Gia prefecture, Thanh Hoa town (now belonging to No Giap 1 and No Giap 2 residential groups, Dao Duy Tu ward, Thanh Hoa province).

As a child, he was known for his intelligence and good study. However, under the feudal system at that time, the examination system did not allow children from singing families to take the exam. Not discouraged, he studied hard, deeply understanding Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. At Nang Son mountain, in his hometown, he devoted all his energy to completing the "Ngoa Long Cuong Van" (Lying Dragon Cuong Van).

In 1625, Dao Duy Tu left his homeland, traveled hundreds of miles to find a ruler and build a career in Tung Chau, Bong Son district, Hoai Nhon prefecture (now Hoai Nhon ward, Gia Lai province).

When he first came to the South, due to difficult circumstances, he had to work as a servant and do many jobs to earn a living. Despite this, Dao Duy Tu still tried hard to study and cultivate his virtue and talent. His reputation spread far and wide, he was known for being knowledgeable about both the past and present. His talent spread to the Lord's Palace and he was recommended to Lord Sai Nguyen Phuc Nguyen.

After meeting Dao Duy Tu, Lord Sai highly valued him and gave him the title of Nha Uy Noi Tan, Loc Khe Marquis, to oversee internal and external military affairs and participate in national politics. He used all his talent to support Lord Nguyen, and was evaluated by Lord Nguyen: "Duy Tu is truly Tu Phong and Khong Minh today".

During his 8 years of serving Lord Nguyen (1627-1634), Grand Tutor Hoang Quoc Cong Dao Duy Tu made outstanding contributions in many fields: politics, military, culture, and art. Later generations evaluated Grand Tutor Hoang Quoc Cong Dao Duy Tu as an outstanding politician, military strategist, cultural figure, outstanding celebrity, and the number 1 meritorious subject of the Nguyen Dynasty. His career and achievements were especially great for the people of his time and forever after.

With his exceptionally outstanding contributions, after his death, Lord Nguyen Phuc Nguyen granted him the title of "Hiep dong mau duc cong than, Dac tien kim tu vinh loc Dai phu, Thai Thuong Tu Khanh, tit Loc Khe Hau"; granted him the Thuy name Trung Luong and had him buried in Tung Chau, Phu Hoai Nhon, Binh Dinh (now Gia Lai province). He was ordered to build a temple and in the 9th year of Gia Long's reign, honored him as the first meritorious mandarin of the Nguyen Dynasty, and brought him to Thai Mieu to be worshiped together with the Nguyen Lords.

In the 12th year of Minh Mang (1831), he was posthumously awarded the title of “Khai Quoc Cong Than, Dac Tien Vinh Loc Dai Phu, Dong Cac Dai Hoc Si, Thai Su Hoang Quoc Cong”. In 1939, Thai Su Hoang Quoc Cong Dao Duy Tu was posthumously awarded the title of “Khai Quoc Cong Than, Dac Tien Vinh Loc, Dong Cac Dai Hoc Si, Thai Su Hoang Quoc Cong, Trac Vi, Thuong Dang Than” by King Bao Dai. He ordered the villagers of No Giap to bring the palanquin to Van Trai station to receive the title and build a temple to worship Dao Duy Tu in his hometown.
