At the press conference announcing the 9th Pho Day 2025 program with the theme "Elevating Vietnamese rice - Spreading to five continents" held on December 4, journalist Cao Huy Tho - Deputy Director of Tuoi Tre Newspaper Media Service Center - said that the Pho Day 2025 Festival held on December 13 and 14, at the Tax Trade Center (old), Saigon Ward, Ho Chi Minh City will have many special features.
Pho cooking demonstration right at the festival
This year's Pho Day Festival 2025 is large-scale and diverse with 5 main areas, including: trade, pho stalls, culinary experience area, exhibition, and stage.
In particular, accompanying this year's festival is the presence of nearly 30 pho booths, famous and unique brands from North to South such as Pho H'Mong Ha Giang (pho noodles made from corn kernels), Pho Nho Pho Nui (Pleiku) or commonly known as Pho Hai To, Lac Hong Pho (Nam Dinh),... even the presence of the Vietnamese Pho brand in Seoul, Korea (Pho Khoe).
Notably, many pho stalls said they will make pho noodles, cook broth, and demonstrate the preparation... right on the spot so that diners can not only enjoy the taste of pho but also have the opportunity to "witness" the elaborate pho cooking process.

Meanwhile, the festival is expected to bring 600 servings of pho and is ready to increase the number of servings if needed. Ms. Tran Ngoc Minh Chau - representative of Pho Phat Tai (HCMC) - said that the unit has participated in the festival many times and the goal is not to sell pho, but to tell the story of Northern pho, traditional Nam Dinh pho.
At the booth, the restaurant will design a "pho cart" that fully demonstrates the processing process from the ingredient compartment, cooking the broth... like "telling a story" about pho. In addition, at the booth, there will be staff on duty and answer additional questions related to pho for interested diners.
The Pho Day Festival is expected to serve more than 20,000 bowls of pho over the two days and attract about 100,000 visitors. Each bowl of pho at the event is sold for 40,000 VND.
Every pho brand is a story

As one of the pho brands participating in the festival, Ms. Do Thi Tam - Hoai Vang 2025 - said that she brought to this year's festival a very special type of pho - Chu noodles. Chu noodles are made from Bao Thai Hong rice - a specialty rice of Luc Ngan, Bac Giang (now Bac Ninh province).
According to Ms. Tam, Bao Thai Hong rice is not delicious when cooked because it is dry. However, when this rice is processed into noodles, it creates chewy, soft noodles with a natural sweetness. The advantage is that the noodles do not break when cooked for a long time.
"I pursue pho because I want to preserve the traditional values of the local craft village, where villagers not only maintain their handicraft but also produce clean, convenient dry pho that can be taken everywhere. So that wherever Vietnamese people living abroad can still open it, take a breath and remember their homeland. Dry pho from my hometown does not change Vietnamese pho, but it is the way I tell about my homeland with a bowl of pho cooked from the heart," Ms. Tam confided.

According to the organizers, each pho brand participating in the festival is a story about the process of formation, development, and making an impression on the hearts of diners. This is not just a commercial issue, but the pho brand is a story of culture, of local identity, and even of the family with the traditional pho profession.
Accordingly, at the festival, there will not only be exciting pho cooking demonstrations, but also many "stories about pho" shared by brand owners and artisans.
Pho brands expected to participate in the festival include: Pho Huong Binh, Pho Thin Bo Ho (Hanoi), Pho Ngoc Vuong (Hanoi), Pho Nhat Vi, Lac Hong Pho (Nam Dinh), Pho Ta, Pho Minh Pasteur, Pho Ong Tay, Pho Phu Gia, Pho'S, ATISPHO (Da Lat), Pho Do - Bac Ha (Lao Cai), Pho Phat Tai, Pho Nghi (Can Tho), Pho 34 Cao Thang, Pho Vit Roast (Lang Son), Pho Hung To, Pho Nha, Pho Hai Thien, Pho San - Que Son (Quang Nam), Pho H'Mong Village (old Ha Giang), Pho Since 1960 (old Bac Giang), Pho Tau Bay, Pho Nho Pho Nui (Pleiku), Pho Sam Ngoc Linh, Pho Khoe (Korea).
Pho Day is supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy - Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Trade Promotion - Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam Culinary Culture Association, in coordination with Tuoi Tre newspaper for many consecutive years, with the diamond companionship of Acecook Vietnam Joint Stock Company.
Entering its 9th year, Pho Day has gone beyond the framework of a simple culinary event. It not only includes activities to honor and promote Vietnamese culinary arts but also opens up many prospects and good results in diplomacy, economy...
