Pac Nga "Xen Muong" Festival converges the quintessence of traditional Thai ethnic crafts

As part of the activities at the Xen Muong Festival in Pac Nga commune, Bac Yen district, there was a Pieu scarf embroidery and weaving competition. The contestants were artisans, skilled embroiderers and weavers, contributing to the festival's appeal and attracting tourists.

Contestants must embroider a complete Piêu scarf with traditional or creative patterns based on Thai culture. With long-standing embroidery techniques, contestants demonstrate agility, dexterity, technical accuracy, and high aesthetics. The Piêu scarf embroidery contest is not only a playground for Thai women to show off their talents, but also an opportunity to preserve and promote the traditional cultural beauty of the Thai ethnic group.

Mrs. Vi Thi Hin - Buoc village, Pac Nga commune, Bac Yen district, Son La : Pieu is an important and indispensable item in the life of Thai women. To embroider a complete Pieu scarf, it includes colored thread and cajuput fabric. With a Pieu scarf, there is an embroidered cut pieu part to create a highlight for the scarf, and it is also a gift for the daughter to give to her husband's family.

In the weaving competition, the artisans carefully prepared materials and tools to complete their competition well. Most of the local artisans have many years of experience in weaving and weaving.

Mr. Ha Van Sien - Lum Ha village , Pac Nga commune, Bac Yen district, Son La: Since I was 7 years old, I have known how to weave this basket and I also learned from my father, mother and uncles. To prepare for weaving this basket, bamboo is the best. It is easy to split and is soft and flexible. The time depends on each person, some are fast and some are slow. I am very happy to participate in the Xen Muong festival to participate in weaving the traditional craft of the nation and pass it on to future generations.
