Based on Article 5 of the Regulations issued with Circular 11/2014/TT-BGDĐT, the eligible students for admission are those who have graduated from lower secondary school under the General Education Program or the Continuing Education Program, and are 15 years old, except for cases of students skipping grades in previous levels of education or students entering a level of education at an age older than the prescribed age.

High school admissions are organized using one of the following three methods:

- Selection criteria: based on the academic and behavioral performance of the applicant during their four years of junior high school; if the applicant has repeated a grade, the results from the repeated year will be used.

- Entrance examination;

- Combining entrance exams with selection based on academic records.

* Target Group 1:

- Child of a fallen soldier;

- Children of war invalids with a disability rating of 81% or higher;

- Children of war invalids with a disability rating of 81% or higher;

- Children of individuals who have been granted a "Certificate of entitlement to policies similar to those for war invalids," where the person granted the certificate has a disability resulting in a loss of working capacity of 81% or more.

- Children of resistance fighters who were exposed to chemical toxins;

- Children of revolutionary activists before January 1, 1945;

- Children of revolutionary activists from January 1, 1945, to the August 1945 uprising.

* Target Group 2:

- Children of Heroes of the Armed Forces, children of Labor Heroes, children of Heroic Vietnamese Mothers;

- Children of war invalids with a disability rate of less than 81%;

- Children of war invalids with a disability rating of less than 81%;

- Children of individuals who have been granted a "Certificate of entitlement to policies similar to those for war invalids," where the individual granted the certificate has a disability resulting in a reduction of working capacity of less than 81%.

* Target Group 3:

- Individuals whose father or mother belongs to an ethnic minority group;

- Ethnic minorities;

- The learners are living and studying in areas with particularly difficult socio-economic conditions.
