Canoeing is considered the brightest hope. The spotlight is on Nguyen Thi Huong, who won 5 gold medals at the 31st SEA Games and will participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She will compete in two of her strongest 500m events, including the C2 double sculls with Diep Thi Huong, aiming to bring home the first gold medal for the Vietnamese delegation.

At the Muang Thong Thani Arena, taekwondo entered the finals starting at 2 PM. Despite fierce competition from host nation Thailand, Vietnamese athletes are still considered top contenders for the championship in many weight categories.

In the evening, the swimming arena will heat up with the finals starting at 6 PM. Tran Hung Nguyen is expected to shine in the men's 200m individual medley, while Jeremie Luong and Nguyen Quang Thuan also have a chance to compete for medals.

In martial arts, jujitsu has 6 finals, where Dao Hong Son (62kg) and his teammates aim to make an impression on the opening day. Besides that, petanque, mountain biking, badminton (category), chess, and esports also promise to bring home the first medals.

On the team court, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will open their campaign against Myanmar at 3 PM. Captain Tran Thi Thanh Thuy's near-100% fitness level is a positive sign for a successful start.

With 6 out of 20 sports holding finals on the same day, December 10th is expected to be a day when Vietnamese sports can gain momentum and aim for a successful SEA Games in Thailand.
