In October 2025, Hai Phong's tourism sector welcomed and served nearly 1 million visitors, exceeding the set target and increasing by 7.76% compared to the same period last year. Overall, in the first 10 months, the city is estimated to have welcomed 12.87 million visitors, reaching 89.19% of the annual plan and increasing by 27.06% compared to the same period in 2024.
These impressive figures not only demonstrate the growing appeal of Hai Phong tourism, but also affirm the strong momentum of the industry in this new phase of transformation.
Following the consolidation of management agencies, Hai Phong's tourism sector has seen positive development in both scale and quality. The interconnectedness between culture, sports , and tourism has helped the city build a comprehensive development strategy, simultaneously preserving cultural and historical values while effectively exploiting its natural advantages, infrastructure, and human resources.
Previously, tourism in Hai Phong was often seasonal, focusing on summer in Do Son and Cat Ba. Now, the city is developing a "four-season tourism" model – a sustainable approach that yields long-term economic benefits. Along with beach and island tourism, cultural, ecological, spiritual, and culinary tourism are being prioritized, contributing to making tourism a key economic sector, creating jobs, and spreading community values.
In 2025, Hai Phong, together with partner localities, developed three unique tourism tours: "One Journey - Five World Heritage Destinations," "Following in the Footsteps of the Three Founders of Truc Lam," and "Exploring the Con Son - Kiet Bac World Heritage Site." This is a series of regional collaborative products, connecting Hai Phong with Quang Ninh and Bac Giang – localities that share outstanding global values within the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son - Kiet Bac complex of historical sites and scenic spots recently recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. These tours not only expand tourism opportunities but also contribute to positioning Hai Phong as the "gateway to heritage tourism" in the North – a place where tourists can embark on, stop, and explore cultural, spiritual, and ecological journeys of regional and international significance.
The city organized a conference to promote and train on improving the quality of Hai Phong's culinary tourism products (Foodtour) in 2025, aiming to standardize services, enhance service skills, and promote the "Hai Phong Foodtour" brand – a unique feature that attracts domestic and international tourists. The city is also actively coordinating the exploitation of tourism products at the Con Son - Kiet Bac historical site, Thanh Mai Pagoda, Kinh Chu Cave, and Nham Duong Pagoda, all part of the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son - Kiet Bac complex of historical sites and scenic spots. These activities open up new avenues for cooperation and create opportunities for effectively exploiting the value of inter-regional heritage.
Building on that cooperation, the leaders of the Hai Phong City People's Committee and the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee recently held an important working session to promote regional tourism development. Through this, the parties aim to form inter-regional tourism routes connecting Cat Ba - Ha Long - Yen Tu - Con Son - Kiet Bac, contributing to making Hai Phong and Quang Ninh leading tourism centers in the country, while also enhancing their international competitiveness.
The breakthrough in Hai Phong's tourism industry is the result of a coordinated effort from the government, departments, businesses, and the community. Transportation infrastructure has been heavily invested in, and accommodation, entertainment, and culinary services have been continuously upgraded. Travel businesses have proactively innovated their products and applied digital technology in promotion and booking, providing convenient and modern experiences for tourists.
With clear direction, strategic vision, and the determination of the entire system, Hai Phong's tourism sector has every reason to rise to become a key economic sector, making a significant contribution to socio-economic growth and enhancing the position of the "City of Red Flamboyant Flowers" on the tourism map of Vietnam and the world.
