Linking and innovating to develop Hai Phong tourism

Cat Ba archipelago is always an attractive destination for many domestic and foreign tourists.

In October 2025, Hai Phong tourism welcomed and served nearly 1 million visitors, exceeding the set scenario, up 7.76% over the same period last year. In the 10 months, the city is estimated to welcome 12.87 million visitors, reaching 89.19% of the yearly plan and up 27.06% over the same period in 2024.

These impressive numbers not only show the growing attraction of Hai Phong tourism, but also affirm the strong resilience of the industry in the new transformation period.

After the consolidation of management agencies, Hai Phong tourism has made positive progress in both scale and quality. The connection between culture - sports - tourism helps the city build a comprehensive development strategy, both preserving cultural and historical values and effectively exploiting natural advantages, infrastructure and people.

If in the past, Hai Phong tourism often operated seasonally, focusing on the summer in Do Son and Cat Ba, now the city has been forming a model of "four-season tourism" - a sustainable direction, bringing long-term economic efficiency. Along with the sea and islands, cultural, ecological, spiritual and culinary tourism are focused on development, contributing to making tourism an important economic sector, creating jobs and spreading community values.

In 2025, Hai Phong and its associated localities have developed three unique tours including the experience of “One journey - five destinations of World Heritage”, “Following the footsteps of the Three Patriarchs of Truc Lam” and “Discovering the World Heritage of Con Son - Kiep Bac”. This is a series of regional linkage products, connecting Hai Phong with Quang Ninh and Bac Giang - localities that share outstanding global values in the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son and Kiep Bac relic and landscape complex, which has just been recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. These tours not only expand the tourism space, but also contribute to positioning Hai Phong as the “gateway to heritage tourism” of the Northern region - where visitors can depart, stop and explore cultural, spiritual and ecological journeys of regional and international stature.

The city has organized a conference to promote and train to improve the quality of culinary tourism products (Foodtour) in Hai Phong in 2025, aiming to standardize services, improve service skills and promote the brand "Foodtour Hai Phong" - a unique feature to attract domestic and foreign tourists. The city is also actively coordinating to exploit tourism products at the Con Son - Kiep Bac relic site, Thanh Mai pagoda, Kinh Chu cave, Nham Duong pagoda, belonging to the Yen Tu - Vinh Nghiem - Con Son, Kiep Bac relic and scenic complex. These activities open up new directions of cooperation, while creating opportunities to effectively exploit inter-regional heritage values.

On that cooperation basis, the leaders of Hai Phong City People's Committee and Quang Ninh Province People's Committee recently had an important meeting to promote regional tourism development. Thereby, the parties aim to form inter-regional tourism routes, connecting Cat Ba - Ha Long - Yen Tu - Con Son, Kiep Bac, contributing to making Hai Phong and Quang Ninh become the leading tourism centers of the country, while enhancing international competitiveness.

The breakthrough of Hai Phong tourism is the result of the synchronous participation of the government, departments, sectors, businesses and the community. Transport infrastructure has been heavily invested, accommodation, entertainment and culinary services have been continuously upgraded. Travel businesses have proactively innovated products, applied digital technology in promotion and service booking, bringing convenient and modern experiences to tourists.

With a clear orientation, strategic vision and determination of the entire system, Hai Phong tourism has the basis to become a key economic sector, making an important contribution to socio-economic growth and enhancing the position of "Red Flamboyant City" on the tourism map of Vietnam and the world.
