According to Engadget , recent reports suggest that Samsung will equip the Galaxy Z Flip5 with a larger external display than current models, as evidenced by renders shared by MySmartPrice showing the phone with a secondary screen covering most of the front of the device when the device is closed.
Rendered images allegedly of the Galaxy Z Flip5, set to launch at the end of next month.
MySmartprice didn't share the size of the outer screen, however, judging from the leaked images, it appears to be significantly larger than the 1.9-inch screen currently on the Galaxy Z Flip4. Additionally, it seems Samsung has improved the screen surrounding the main camera array on the Galaxy Z Flip5 compared to what Motorola did with the Motorola Razr+.
Equipping the Galaxy Z Flip with a larger external screen makes framing selfies with the main camera easier, but it also leads to some potential drawbacks. Firstly, the larger secondary screen will impact battery life on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 unless Samsung equips the phone with a higher-capacity battery. The smaller external secondary screen was a appreciated design feature on the Galaxy Z Flip 4, as it still ensured users could easily access certain information.
Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Z Flip5, along with the Galaxy Z Fold5, at its Unpacked event at the end of July. By then, users will be able to confirm whether this clamshell-style foldable smartphone actually features a large screen.
