On the evening of July 4th, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the exam scores and admission cutoff scores for 115 non-specialized public high schools. This year, more than 90 schools saw a decrease in average subject scores compared to last year. The difference between the school with the highest cutoff score and the school with the lowest cutoff score is 15.5 points.

Many schools have seen a significant drop in their admission scores compared to 2023 and 2024. For example, Tho Xuan High School (Dan Phuong district) saw a decrease of nearly 8.5 points. Last year, the school's admission score was 30.75, meaning an average of 6.15 points per subject was required for admission. This year, the school's admission score is 10, meaning candidates needing an average of 3.33 points per subject to be admitted are now eligible.

Another school that also experienced a sharp decline is Phuc Loi High School, formerly located in Long Bien district, now Phuc Loi ward. Two years ago, candidates needed to achieve an average score of 7.55 points per subject to be admitted to this school, which was considered to have a high admission score in the area.

However, this year, candidates applying for Phuc Loi High School as their first choice only need to achieve 14.5 points to pass, equivalent to 4.83 points per subject.

Reportedly, this year the school was allocated 765 enrollment slots, but the number of first-choice applications was lower than the quota. As a result, the school's cutoff score this year dropped to the lower end of the city's rankings, even though in previous years it was consistently among the top 30 schools with the highest cutoff scores in Hanoi.

Several other schools also saw their admission scores decrease by an average of 1-2 points per subject compared to last year, such as Thach Ban High School, Duong Xa High School, Tu Lap High School, and Thuong Cat High School…

Across the city, approximately 20 schools saw an increase in average subject scores compared to last year, but only a slight increase of 0.3 – 1.2 points. Doan Ket High School in Hai Ba Trung district, however, saw an increase of about 6.5 points.

Last year, due to the number of first-choice applications falling below the enrollment quota, the school's cutoff score dropped by 16.25 points. The school required 23.75 out of 50 points, meaning an average of 4.75 points per subject to pass. This score was "shocking" at the time because it was the only school in the inner city among those with the lowest cutoff scores.

This year, the school requires a score of 20.75, or an average of 6.92 points per subject, to be admitted.

Below are the changes in the admission scores of some schools this year compared to 2023 and 2024:
