On September 26, 2023, a delegation from Long An province held a working meeting at Chungnam Techno Park (CTP), South Korea.
The delegation was led by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Long An Provincial National Assembly Delegation. The delegation also included Mr. Tran Van Dung, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Chairman of the Provincial Inspection Committee; Mr. Huynh Van Son, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and representatives from the Departments of Planning and Investment, Transport, Education and Training, Natural Resources and Environment, the Vietnam Women's Union of Long An Province, and several businesses.
Mr. Kyu-Sok Suh, Director of the Institute, expressed his pleasure in welcoming Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai and the delegation to CTP, and also hoped to have discussions and receive support from Long An province in the process of finding a suitable investment location to establish a CTP Technology Park in Long An.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai introduced the potential and strengths of the province: Long An has a strategically important location connecting vibrant economic and financial centers like Ho Chi Minh City with the Mekong Delta region; it has an abundant young workforce; its infrastructure and transportation network are being invested in comprehensively; the government is dynamic and innovative, always accompanying businesses; the government has planned a large amount of land for industrial and urban development; and the people are friendly… all of which create an attractive environment for Korean investors to confidently invest and conduct business in the province.
According to Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Huynh Van Son, Long An province currently has 34 industrial parks with a total area of 9,251.6 hectares; 44 industrial clusters with an area of 2,181 hectares; and a target of establishing an additional 17 industrial parks with an area of 3,181.4 hectares and 28 industrial clusters with an area of 1,808 hectares by 2030. Long An's industrial parks and clusters are mainly concentrated in districts bordering Ho Chi Minh City and have been fully developed with infrastructure ready to welcome businesses and investors to Long An.
Long An wishes to cooperate with the Chungnam Technology Park and invites Korean businesses to invest in Long An in the following areas: high technology, focusing on Industry 4.0 automation, manufacturing of electronic components and equipment, software, microchips, semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence; materials production, supporting industries, processing and manufacturing, automobile production and assembly, automotive components; smart ecological urban development; port services, import and export services, business support services, logistics; ecosystems supporting the development of science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship; and the development of high-quality human resource training to supply labor for businesses and investors.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai invited Mr. Kyu-Sok Suh and members of CTP to Long An to conduct a field survey and learn more about the province's investment environment.
During their working trip to South Korea, Long An businesses also met and interacted with CTP businesses in related fields.
