On the afternoon of June 16th, LPBank HAGL hosted Binh Dinh FC at their home stadium in Pleiku, in a match belonging to the 23rd round of the V-League 2023-2024. With the advantage of playing at home, the team from the mountainous region, desperately needing points to avoid the relegation play-off spot, proactively pushed forward to play offensively from the start. This was exactly what Binh Dinh FC wanted, as their defensive counter-attacking style is considered their forte.

Referee Nguyen Manh Hai showed Ngoc Tin a direct red card.

When overly focused on attacking, LPBank HAGL is vulnerable to counter-attacks from Binh Dinh FC. The clearest example of this was the quick counter-attack by the Quy Nhon home team in the 25th minute. From a long pass from a teammate, Alan used his speed to get past center-back Jairo Filho and then past goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung. However, the Binh Dinh FC foreign player shot wide, much to the disappointment of the Binh Dinh team members.

The turning point of the match came in the 40th minute, when a Binh Dinh FC player was sent off. Following a through pass from Minh Vuong, Dinh Thanh Binh controlled the ball well and surged forward but was fouled by Ngoc Tin (Binh Dinh FC). Referee Nguyen Manh Hai judged it to be a foul aimed at preventing a potential goal, and therefore issued a direct red card to Ngoc Tin.

Quoc Viet also had opportunities but failed to take advantage of them.

The best scoring opportunity for LPBank HAGL since the start of the match came in the 56th minute. Following a defensive error by a Binh Dinh player inside the penalty area, the ball landed right at the feet of Dinh Thanh Binh. From a distance of only 5 meters, the Vietnamese national team striker shot the ball over the crossbar, missing a chance to score the opening goal for the home team at Pleiku Stadium.

With the advantage of having more players on the field, Coach Vu Tien Thanh's team continued to dominate for the remainder of the match. In the 74th minute, Nguyen Quoc Viet (LPBank HAGL) had another good opportunity but showed a lack of composure with a very inaccurate shot.

Despite numerous attacks, LPBank HAGL failed to capitalize on their opportunities and paid the price in injury time. In the 90+5th minute, striker Alan sprinted forward after a pass from a teammate and executed a skillful move before finishing neatly to score the winning goal, securing a 1-0 victory for Binh Dinh FC against LPBank HAGL.

With this result, LPBank HAGL continues to face difficulties, remaining in second-to-last place in the standings with 26 points. Khánh Hòa has already been relegated, so the play-off spot will go to the 13th-placed team, with HAGL being the top contender.

Meanwhile, Binh Dinh Club is in second place with 40 points, narrowing the gap with the leading team Nam Dinh (44 points) to just 4 points.
