'Forest floods' submerge hundreds of houses in Hanoi suburbs

TPO - Due to the direct impact of cross-river floods (floods from streams on the riverside), the water level of My Ha River (section through My Duc district, Hanoi ) remains high, flooding hundreds of houses, forcing people to evacuate.
For nearly a week, many places in My Duc district (Hanoi) have been deeply flooded, roads have turned into rivers, and people's lives have encountered many difficulties.
Recorded on the afternoon of September 15 in villages of Hop Thanh commune, My Duc district, many houses were still deeply submerged in water.
Phu Hien village is located along both banks of My Ha river, many houses are flooded, the first floor is submerged in water.
Neighboring villages such as Ai village, Vai village... along the banks of My Ha river in Hop Thanh commune, My Duc district were also heavily affected when the water rose.
Isolated households are living without electricity or clean water, depending on relief supplies from the government and philanthropists.
"My house has been flooded for a whole week now and I can't move out. There's nothing left in my fields," Mr. Nguyen Xuan On lamented.
Many people living here said they have never witnessed such a big flood.
Dozens of houses were submerged, leaving only the roofs.
Many properties, crops, agricultural and aquatic products were swept away by the water, causing heavy losses to people.
The roads leading to the villages in Hop Thanh commune are surrounded by My Ha river water.
Rising water levels forced many households to evacuate to safety, leaving their houses empty.
Phu Hien village cultural house is deeply flooded.
The road to Phu Hien village is vast in the sea of water.
According to information from the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of My Duc district, 1,549 households in My Duc district had their houses flooded. Currently, 986 households in low-lying areas and flooded houses have been evacuated to safe places.
