On November 25, on social networks, a photo of 3 camels appearing in Cao Bang was shared, attracting a lot of attention.
Sharing with VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Dam Van Thang, Chairman of Xuan Truong Commune People's Committee (Bao Lac District, Cao Bang Province) confirmed that the image shared on social media was in the locality. However, according to Mr. Thang, the camel appeared a long time ago, not recently.
“These three camels were abandoned by a group of smugglers in the commune, however, this incident happened in February 2023,” said Mr. Thang.
According to Mr. Thang, at that time, after encountering the three camels, the local authorities and Xuan Truong Border Guard Station temporarily detained them.
“After the detention, we notified people to come and claim them. However, after 6 months, no one has come to claim them. Now, there are still 2 camels at Xuan Truong Border Guard Station,” Mr. Thang informed.
According to Mr. Thang, of the 3 camels above, 1 died on the first day it was brought to the station.
Also in Cao Bang province, in early November 2023, images of kangaroos appearing also attracted many people's attention.
Specifically, on November 8, 4 kangaroos were discovered by people in Duc Long commune (Thach An district, Cao Bang), and were then captured by forest rangers.
Speaking to VietNamNet reporter, Mr. Hoang Van Khanh, Chairman of Duc Long commune, said that the first kangaroo was discovered and captured on the evening of November 8. The next day, people saw three more on the inter-commune roadside, near a patch of bushes.
To capture the 4 kangaroos, Duc Long commune and Thach An district Forest Protection Department mobilized about 10 people, using nets to surround them. Each weighed about 8-10kg and was healthy.
Mr. Khanh said that this is the first time a kangaroo has appeared in the area. Some experts said that this is a wallaby, also known as a mini kangaroo, originating from Australia.
Cao Bang Provincial Forest Protection Department said that 3 kangaroos of the smuggling group were discovered by forest rangers while being transported across the border, so they abandoned them and fled.
Currently, Hoang Lien Center for Rescue, Conservation and Development of Organisms ( Lao Cai ) is keeping 4 of these kangaroos, including 3 males and 1 female.
