(To Quoc) - On the evening of December 26th, the opening ceremony of the 2nd Me Linh Flower Festival - 2024 and the promotion of trade, tourism , and culture of Me Linh district took place at the square of the Me Linh District Administrative Center (Hanoi).
On the evening of December 26th, at the Central Administrative Square of Me Linh District, Hanoi , the 2nd Me Linh Flower Festival officially opened with the theme "Me Linh: Ablaze with Colorful Flowers".
Attending the event were Politburo member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, and Head of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation Bui Thi Minh Hoai; Central Committee member and Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh; former Central Committee member and former Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung; Central Committee member and President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Tuyen; Central Committee member and President of the Vietnam Farmers' Association Luong Quoc Doan; and Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Nguyen Van Phong, and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hanoi City Nguyen Lan Huong.
Delegates visit the flower exhibition areas at the Festival.
The distinctive flowers of Me Linh were introduced to delegates and visitors alike.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Secretary of the Me Linh District Party Committee, Nguyen Thanh Liem, said that building on the success of the first Flower Festival, this year's festival is organized on a scale of nearly 10,000 square meters, taking place from December 26th to 29th. The highlight of the Festival is the 10 main flower modules and 8 miniature landscapes arranged and designed by artisans according to different themes and decorated with flowers grown in Me Linh, combined with lighting technology to create a modern and vibrant space.
"The 2nd Me Linh Flower Festival is also an opportunity for Me Linh to affirm its position as an attractive tourist destination, a land rich in historical, cultural, and revolutionary traditions - the homeland of the heroic Trung Sisters. The festival promises to become an event promoting tourism, contributing to socio-economic development, preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of Me Linh district to friends at home and abroad…" - the Secretary of the Me Linh District Party Committee emphasized.
During the four days of the Festival, Me Linh district also organized many vibrant and meaningful activities, such as: a competition to decorate bicycles with flowers made from recycled materials; a painting competition; pasting and assembling a "giant" picture from flowers; English Festival activities for students; a fashion show of Ao Dai "Me Linh, radiant with flowers"; special cultural performances by various sectors and organizations; and lively performances by street bands and circus artists…
In particular, within the framework of the Festival, the People's Committee of Me Linh District, in coordination with the Hanoi City Center for Investment, Trade Promotion and Tourism, organized a "Trade Promotion Fair with more than 100 booths displaying and introducing agricultural products, OCOP products, and handicraft products from Hanoi and 30 provinces and cities nationwide."
This is also an opportunity to promote the image of Hanoi's culture and history in general and Me Linh district in particular; to serve as a bridge for trade between production and business units and consumers; and to fulfill the task of stimulating demand and promoting the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods".
Therefore, Me Linh district has identified this as a large-scale cultural, tourism, and trade promotion event of significant importance in stimulating the consumption of flowers and agricultural products, contributing to improving the income and living standards of the people; at the same time, it demonstrates the spirit of innovation, creativity, and the aspiration to reach new heights and make strong breakthroughs for Me Linh in the "New Era - the era of national progress".
Immediately following the opening ceremony was a musical performance, featuring harmonious blends of nature and humanity, like a vibrant dance, symbolizing the strong development and progress of Me Linh in the era of integration.
Many famous artists such as Duc Phuc, Hoa Minzy... performed spectacular artistic acts during the opening night.
The audience in Me Linh enjoyed a vibrant night of music.
The 2nd Me Linh Flower Festival in 2024 will run until December 29th.
