
The 33rd SEA Games marks a special milestone when Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) officially becomes a competition in the system of the largest sports festival in Southeast Asia. Athletes will compete in 6 weight classes for men and women, with two formats including traditional MMA and modern MMA.
The Vietnam MMA team is expected to have 6 players: Pham Van Nam (men's traditional MMA 56kg), Tran Ngoc Luong (men's modern MMA 60kg), Quang Van Minh (men's modern MMA 65kg), Nguyen Vu Quynh Hoa (women's modern MMA 60kg), Duong Thi Thanh Binh (women's modern MMA 54kg) and Le Ngoc Thu (women's traditional MMA 54kg).
Mr. Mai Thanh Ba - General Secretary of the Vietnam Mixed Martial Arts Federation, and also head coach of the National MMA team, said that the team aims to win at least one gold medal in the first time MMA participates in the SEA Games.
According to the Coaching Board's report, up to now, the Vietnamese MMA team has almost completed the preparation phase, ready in spirit and strength to enter the 33rd SEA Games with confidence, solidarity and determination to compete with all their might for the country's flag.
