This afternoon, December 10th, two Vietnamese athletes, Nguyen Thi Huong and Diep Thi Huong, competed in the women's 500m double canoe final. In the qualifying round earlier that day, the two Vietnamese athletes performed excellently, finishing first with a time of 2 minutes 14.565 seconds.
This afternoon, despite a less-than-ideal start, the Hương duo made an impressive sprint, overtaking their rivals to win the SEA Games 33 gold medal with a time of 2 minutes 6.487 seconds.
Two Thai athletes, Orasa and Aphinya, won the silver medal in this event with a time of 2 minutes 9.783 seconds. Meanwhile, two Indonesian athletes, Aprilin and Sella, won the bronze medal with a time of 2 minutes 16.41 seconds.

This is the first gold medal for the Vietnamese sports delegation at the 33rd SEA Games, achieving the goal of winning a gold medal on the opening day. Earlier this morning and in the early afternoon, Vietnamese athletes won two silver medals and five bronze medals.
