Phase 1 of Long Thanh Airport has a capacity to serve 25 million passengers per year. According to forecasts from relevant authorities, approximately 80% of passengers will need to travel between Long Thanh Airport and Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa.
According to the plan, the connection between Long Thanh Airport and Ho Chi Minh City will mainly be made through two main transportation axes: the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway and provincial roads 25B and 25C via Cat Lai bridge, and the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3.
In addition, the Ministry of Transport is also seeking feedback from localities on five connection options between Tan Son Nhat Airport and Long Thanh Airport, including two road options and three railway routes. The road options have lengths ranging from 43 to 62 km, prioritizing direct bus connections and other modes of transport such as taxis and private vehicles.
