Consul General Doan Phuong Lan expressed her impression of the achievements made during the past three years of the Mayor's term, especially the policies to promptly change direction with the goal of making Ulsan the AI capital of Korea, the center of the hydrogen energy industry, the center of distributed energy technology, deep sea mining technology, and the healthcare and biological fields.
The two sides discussed directions for cooperation that can be promoted in the coming time, focusing on three clusters of fields: (i) Strategic manufacturing industries such as automobiles, shipbuilding, and precision engineering; (ii) green energy, petrochemicals, hydrogen, and offshore wind power; (iii) high technology including AI, digital transformation, and smart logistics.
Mayor Kim Du Gyeom said Ulsan is aiming to be a national leader in transforming AI-based manufacturing industries by building a data infrastructure that leverages its decades-long advantage in manufacturing.
He also informed about the program to recruit 50,000 workers with a visa type issued specifically by Ulsan, applicable to countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan... and expressed his desire to receive more skilled workers from Vietnam in the near future.
On this occasion, Consul General Doan Phuong Lan thanked Ulsan City for its prompt, timely and kind support to Khanh Hoa Province in the face of the severe damage caused by recent floods. Ulsan City has been a sister city of Khanh Hoa Province since 2002.
The Consul General congratulated Ulsan City on being recognized by UNESCO for the Rock Paintings as a World Heritage Site, becoming the 17th World Heritage Site in Korea. The two sides agreed to continue exchanges and increase local-level working visits to seek opportunities for substantive cooperation.

Ulsan's GDP per capita ranks first in Korea (82,000 USD/person). Ulsan is home to the production ecosystem of Korea's mainstay corporations such as Hyundai, SK, Samsung, etc. |
