Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh paid a state visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic from November 5-7, at the invitation of President Thongloun Sisoulith.
After the official welcoming ceremony on November 6, President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh and President Thongloun Sisoulith held talks and attended the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between Mongolia and Laos.
Stressing that Mongolia and Laos are countries with long-standing historical ties, heritage and cultural traditions, President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh noted that relations between the two countries have developed steadily over the past 60 years based on mutual support and beneficial cooperation.
President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his belief that the Mongolian President's state visit this time will contribute significantly to expanding and developing the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries as well as strengthening people-to-people friendship.
The two sides exchanged views on expanding and developing bilateral relations in the fields of politics , defense, transport, agriculture, education and health as well as on many issues of international and regional cooperation.
The two leaders agreed to continue expanding the scope of bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in the fields of trade, economy , agricultural production, tourism and transport logistics.
President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh wished Laos success in assuming the role of ASEAN Chair in 2024, and expressed gratitude to Laos for supporting Mongolia's intention to become an ASEAN Dialogue Partner.
During the visit, the guest from Mongolia will have meetings with host country Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and National Assembly Chairman Xaysomphone Phomvihane.
Laos and Mongolia established diplomatic relations on September 12, 1962.
