The situation of landslides on hills into houses causing loss of life and property in the province is not new, but in 2025, this situation has become more complicated. According to the synthesis from communes and wards, from the beginning of 2025 to now, there are 16 communes and wards in the province with landslides, high risk of landslides at 20 points affecting 168 households. Among them, there are landslides, there are points with very high risk of landslides, forcing people to move to other places. Typically, at the landslide point in Khau Luong village, Tan Tien commune; the landslide point in Pa Chi village, Thuy Hung commune; some landslide points in the communes: Tri Le, Loc Binh, Huu Lung, Huu Lien, Thai Binh .
Living in a landslide area with a high risk of landslides always makes people feel uneasy and restless. Ms. Chu Thi Hoi, Coc Muoi village, Quoc Khanh commune said: Recently, cracks and subsidence have appeared on the high hills behind my house. As soon as the above situation was discovered, people reported it and relevant authorities and sectors came to check and grasp the situation. However, while waiting for the repair, my family and 99 other households in the village (in the affected area) are all worried. People hope that relevant authorities and sectors will soon have a solution to help people stabilize their lives.
On October 25, 2025, the Provincial People's Committee Office issued Official Dispatch No. 8310/VP-KTCN on the arrangement of resettlement of residents in urgent natural disaster areas affected by storms No. 10 and 11 and other rains and storms in 2025. Accordingly, the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee requested the People's Committees of communes and wards to proactively relocate residential areas at risk of insecurity due to the impact of rain, floods, landslides and to arrange resettlement of residents to locations that ensure the safety of people's lives and property; propose projects to arrange resettlement of residents in urgent natural disaster areas, meet immediate urgent needs and stabilize people's lives after floods. |
Mrs. Hoi’s wish is also the common wish of many households living in landslide areas with high risk of landslides in the province. Faced with this reality, relevant authorities and sectors have been implementing solutions to gradually overcome it.
Mr. Hoang Ngoc Hung, Chairman of Tan Tien Commune People's Committee, said: As soon as cracks and subsidence appeared, causing a high risk of landslides affecting 20 households in Khau Luong village, the Commune People's Committee directed forces to coordinate with the village to propagate and support people to evacuate to a safe place. At the same time, the Commune People's Committee regularly checks and monitors the locations of subsidence and cracks; supports essential necessities for people; continues to coordinate with relevant agencies to determine the level of danger, proactively find locations, and propose resettlement plans for people living in dangerous areas.
Similar to Tan Tien commune, Thai Binh commune has also proactively implemented initial safety measures for people in landslide areas. Mr. Nguyen Tuan Toai, Vice Chairman of Thai Binh Commune People's Committee, said: Due to the impact of storms and rain, a high-risk landslide appeared in Ban Chu village, directly affecting 5 households. After detecting the danger, the Commune People's Committee organized forces to warn of dangerous areas and support the evacuation of people to safe areas. In the long term, 1 household has moved to a safe area. For the remaining households, the commune has proposed to superiors to support the recovery so that people can soon stabilize their lives.
Along with the initiative of the communes in implementing initial measures, the relevant departments and branches also quickly took action. Ms. Dinh Thi Thu, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: As soon as receiving reports on landslides and high risks of landslides in communes and wards in the province, the unit coordinated with relevant agencies to conduct field inspections at specific locations to assess and determine the level of landslides and risks of landslides. At the same time, the People's Committees of communes and wards were instructed on the order of handling and overcoming small and scattered landslides, coordinated to invite consulting units to survey and assess the level of danger to have fundamental solutions; reported and proposed to the Provincial People's Committee on contents beyond their authority...
There are many landslides and the workload is still very large. However, given the complicated developments of natural disasters in recent times, landslides can occur at any time. Therefore, people living in landslide areas and areas at risk of landslides hope that authorities and sectors will continue to pay attention to implementing long-term remedial measures. From there, people can rest assured and soon stabilize their lives.
