The F-22s were deployed from Europe, according to CNN on June 14, quoting Lieutenant General Alex Grynkewich, Commander of the US Air Forces Central Command. A spokesman for the force said that there has been an increase in what the US considers unprofessional behavior by Russian aircraft in recent weeks.

"Russian forces' repeated violations of agreed-upon airspace deconfliction measures increase the risk of escalation or miscalculation," General Michael "Erik" Kurilla, Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), said in a press release on June 14, according to CNN.

“Together with our partners and allies, we are committed to improving security and stability in the region,” Mr. Kurilla said.

While the Russian military continues its war in Ukraine, the US continues to interact with Russian aircraft in the Middle East, particularly in and around Syria, according to CNN.

Earlier in March, Mr. Kurilla told US lawmakers that there had been a “surge” in aggressive Russian flights.

There is currently no information about Russia's reaction to the new move and accusations from the US military. Previously, a senior Russian military official said on March 31 that Russian forces in Syria protested "provocative actions" by US forces deployed in Syria, according to TASS news agency.
