Notably, this batch of products was also produced after the Cosmetic Product Declaration Form expired in 2022, seriously violating the law on cosmetics management.
Recently, a number of serious cases related to the production and trade of fake cosmetics have been exposed. |
The above product is manufactured by Quang Xanh Pharmaceutical and Cosmetic Company Limited ( Hung Yen ) and distributed by Dang Nhi Pharmaceutical Company Limited (Thai Nguyen). The test results of the sample taken at Manh Ty 32 Pharmacy (Hue City) during a periodic inspection showed that the product did not meet the requirements for microbiological indicators.
Using substandard products can cause serious problems such as scalp irritation, dermatitis, rashes, and itching.
In response to this incident, the Drug Administration of Vietnam has requested that Health Departments nationwide notify cosmetic businesses to immediately stop distributing and using the violating product batch.
At the same time, the two related companies must organize the collection, receipt of returned goods and destruction in accordance with current regulations, and send a report to the Department before July 16, 2025. The Department also assigned the Department of Health of Hung Yen and Thai Nguyen to organize inspections and checks on the law compliance of enterprises and report the results to the Ministry of Health before July 31, 2025.
In addition to the specific case mentioned above, the current situation of cosmetic management is facing great challenges. According to statistics from the Drug Administration of Vietnam, in the end of May alone, nearly 300 cosmetic products had their registration numbers revoked, accounting for about 60% of the total number of withdrawals in 2024.
It is worth noting that among them are many products from famous brands from Japan, Korea and France such as Dove Peony & Sweet Cream shower gel (Unilever Japan), Bioderma Sebium H2O makeup remover (France), or Shiseido Anessa sunscreen (Japan). All are announced and distributed by Vietnamese enterprises.
Some businesses requested to withdraw a large number of products in a short period of time, such as HSD Investment and Development Company Limited (Hung Yen) with 65 products, Japan Connection (Hanoi) 78 products, BB Vietnam (Hanoi) 60 products and Hebe Vietnam (HCMC) 52 products.
A representative of the Drug Administration of Vietnam said that it is legal to withdraw the announcement number if the product is no longer in circulation. However, the massive withdrawal during the period of enhanced post-inspection raises questions about the intention of many businesses to avoid inspection.
Recent reality also shows that a number of serious cases related to the production and trading of fake cosmetics have been exposed. One of the prominent cases is the product Hanayuki Sunscreen Body of EBC Dong Nai Medical Factory Joint Stock Company, which was widely promoted by singer Doan Di Bang, was prosecuted for the accusation of producing and trading counterfeit goods.
Experts warn that this is just the tip of the iceberg of an organized, sophisticated and difficult-to-control system of violations, especially when taking advantage of online distribution channels, social networks and celebrity sponsorship.
Lieutenant Colonel Ho Van Hung (Economic Police Department, Ministry of Public Security) warned that current violations often target the psychology of favoring hand-carried goods, foreign goods and using KOLs and celebrities to create fake trust.
National Assembly Delegate Pham Khanh Phong Lan, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Food Safety Management Board, said that this phenomenon is no longer an isolated problem but is showing signs of being systemic.
Faced with the above situation, the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities are strengthening post-inspection, inspection and tightening regulations on the management of cosmetics and functional foods nationwide.
At the same time, consumers are advised to only buy products at reputable addresses, carefully check the batch number, expiry date, and information published on the packaging to protect themselves from risks from counterfeit and poor quality goods.
In the context of the rapidly growing cosmetics and healthcare market, transparency, compliance and strict management are key factors to build consumer trust and ensure the sustainable development of this industry.
