In 2025, An Giang welcomed over 24 million visitors, a 27.3% increase compared to the same period last year, exceeding the annual plan by 14.7%, including nearly 2 million international visitors, a 90.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Total revenue reached approximately 67,944 billion VND, a 92% increase compared to the same period last year, exceeding the annual plan by 72.9%. These figures show that An Giang's tourism industry is recovering strongly, entering a bumper season.

The year 2025 holds particular significance for An Giang due to the merger of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces into the new An Giang province. This merger presents many challenges, but it also offers opportunities for An Giang's tourism industry to break through, leverage the advantages of the merger, expand its scope, and effectively manage tourism, foreign affairs, and border activities to ensure synchronicity, efficiency, and sustainability.

According to the An Giang Department of Tourism's report, the above results were achieved primarily due to the leadership, management, and implementation of the annual work programs and plans, which were carefully managed by the Department's Board of Directors, ensuring the set progress and quality. The Department successfully advised on and completed the tasks assigned by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee; advised on the Decision to consolidate the Steering Committee for Tourism Development and the Steering Committee for Border Affairs in the province; focused on completing the procedures for developing the project to build Phu Quoc into a high-quality eco-tourism and marine tourism center of national and international stature; and implemented the Government's Action Program and the Provincial Party Committee's Action Program on implementing Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2025, of the Politburo on international integration in the new situation in An Giang province. Pay attention to directing, reviewing, and developing tourism infrastructure projects and items, as well as plans, reports, planning schemes, and resolutions for tourism development in the province . The research team promptly issued directives and guidelines to businesses and localities on organizing and implementing tourism, foreign affairs, and border activities. They effectively implemented the monthly and six-monthly reporting system, as well as thematic and ad hoc reports as required by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Provincial Party Committee, and the Provincial People's Committee. They organized regular briefings, thematic briefings, and ad hoc meetings to evaluate and learn from experience in directing and managing the implementation of key tasks of the sector. They strengthened the management of incoming and outgoing delegations to ensure strict compliance with regulations. They successfully organized the Announcement Ceremony for the Establishment of the National APEC 2027 Committee. They participated in the Steering Committee and the Support Team for the APEC 2027 Conference and effectively fulfilled their role as members of the Steering Committees in the province. They paid attention to and effectively directed administrative reform, promoted e-government, and digital transformation activities as prescribed. According to Bui Quoc Thai, Director of the An Giang Provincial Department of Tourism, in 2025, the An Giang province's tourism industry experienced significant development and achieved many outstanding results. Tasks related to tourism, foreign affairs, and border management were implemented effectively. Tourism growth indicators met and exceeded the province's economic growth plan for 2025, contributing to ensuring double-digit economic growth as directed by the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee.

External relations activities have achieved practical results, contributing to enhancing the role of Party foreign affairs, diplomatic relations, and people-to-people diplomacy. The province continues to direct and coordinate with relevant agencies to meticulously prepare for hosting the APEC 2027 Conference. Cooperation with foreign partners has contributed to the province's socio-economic development, gradually integrating An Giang province into the international community more deeply and effectively. Economic diplomacy activities have introduced the province's potential, strengths, investment opportunities, trade, and tourism to domestic and foreign investors. Rich and diverse cultural diplomacy activities have helped international friends better understand the policies, laws, economic, cultural, social situation, and image of the locality.

The coordination of promotion and marketing efforts to showcase the image and destinations of local tourism has been effective, attracting both domestic and international tourists to visit and experience. The accommodation system continues to be improved towards modernization, serving the needs of tourists. Field surveys of potential areas, tourism products, and resources are being conducted to compile statistics for management and propose investment in connecting tourism infrastructure for the locality in the 2025-2030 period. The assessment, inspection, and certification of accommodation and travel establishments are carried out seriously and promptly. Coordination in environmental protection, stable service prices, and friendly, responsible, and civilized service attitudes from tourism businesses have been strengthened, creating satisfaction among tourists.
