In Hoa Binh province, five elementary school students in Mai Chau were rushed to the health station with symptoms of stomach pain and vomiting after drinking soft drinks purchased at the school gate.
On the evening of February 23, Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh, Deputy Director of the Hoa Binh Department of Education and Training, confirmed the information. He stated that these students all attend Bao La Primary and Secondary School in Mai Chau District.
According to a report from the district's education department, in the early afternoon of February 22nd, five students bought soft drinks at a shop near the school gate. Around 4:50 PM, all five experienced stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea, so their families took them to the commune's health station for examination.
Seeing signs of suspected poisoning, these children were transferred to the Mai Chau District Health Center, then to the district hospital, and finally to the provincial hospital for treatment.
"The children's health has gradually stabilized; they no longer vomit or have stomach pains, and they are alert and able to talk normally," said Mr. Pham Trung Hieu, head of the Education and Training Department of Mai Chau district.
He said that the commune's People's Committee had instructed the Health Station to coordinate with the police to confiscate the items. At the same time, the commune organized a campaign to raise awareness among the local population about preventing food poisoning.
