Tuan Anh said that his parents first introduced him to computers and phones when he was in the second grade. Because of this early exposure to computers, a passion for computer science was kindled in him.

Tran Tuan Anh has an impressive academic record.

"When I first started using computers, I mainly played games and listened to music. Gradually, I became more passionate about computer science, so I started practicing typing documents and creating simple presentations," Tuan Anh said.

Tuan Anh's first computer science award came in the 5th grade. At that time, the Duc Tho District Youth Union organized a youth computer science competition, and Tuan Anh unexpectedly won first prize. After the competition, this young student dreamed of becoming a computer programmer.

Upon entering middle school, Tuan Anh unexpectedly shifted his focus to investing more time in learning English. The reason was that at that time, there were very few computer science competitions at the middle school level for him to participate in and test his skills.

Thanks to his determination and hard work in studying foreign languages, Tuan Anh has achieved remarkable results in this subject. In 8th grade, he participated in the provincial-level gifted student competition and won third prize. A year later, he became the top scorer in the 9th grade provincial-level gifted student competition in English. In 10th grade, Tuan Anh took the IELTS exam and achieved a score of 8.0.

"By the end of 10th grade, I focused more on computer science than English. Although my teachers and friends were a little surprised, I realized that foreign languages ​​are very helpful for computer science. I took advantage of this to search for more computer science materials in English to further improve my skills and knowledge," Tuan Anh confided.

In 11th grade, this student participated in the provincial computer science competition and won first prize. This achievement helped Tuan Anh be selected for the provincial computer science team. At the 2023-2024 national computer science competition, this male student also excelled, winning second prize.

Selected for the Olympic team

At the end of March this year, when the Ministry of Education and Training organized the national team selection exam for the 2024 regional and international Informatics Olympiads, Tuan Anh, along with 37 other students nationwide who won first and second prizes in the national Informatics Olympiad, participated in the competition. As a result, Tuan Anh excelled, securing 9th place and qualifying for the Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad team.

Tuan Anh took graduation photos with his classmates as a keepsake.

"At the Asia- Pacific Informatics Olympiad held on May 18th, I regret only securing 8th place out of 15 participants. With this result, I was unable to achieve my goal of making it onto the team for the International Informatics Olympiad. Although the result wasn't as expected, I'm still very satisfied with what I accomplished," Tuan Anh confided.

Having been selected for the national team to compete in regional and international Olympiads, Tuan Anh is one of five 12th-grade students in Ha Tinh who are exempt from the high school graduation exam and are granted direct admission to university. Among them, Tuan Anh attends a local school, while the other four attend Ha Tinh Specialized High School.

Tuan Anh plans to apply to the Information Technology program at Hanoi University of Science and Technology to continue pursuing his dream of becoming a computer programmer.

Mr. Phan Huu Quyen, Vice Principal of Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School, assessed Tuan Anh as an all-around excellent student, especially in English and computer science. The male student is also an exemplary class officer, leading in class and school activities and always helping his friends.
