Enhancing community mental health protection capacity

On October 2, the Central Psychiatric Hospital 2 organized a conference to improve the capacity of community mental health protection work in commemoration of World Mental Health Day, October 10. The conference was held in Khanh Hoa province, attracting nearly 150 delegates who are leaders, officers, and doctors working at psychiatric hospitals, forensic psychiatric institutes, and disease control centers in the southern provinces and cities.

At the conference, delegates were updated on the direction of the line, Project 1816 (technology transfer to lower levels) of the Ministry of Health at Central Psychiatric Hospital 1 and Central Psychiatric Hospital 2 in 2025; discussed difficulties in human resources in community mental health care; heard about mental health care activities in Da Nang, Khanh Hoa and the mental health care system in Thailand.

In addition, delegates also shared experiences in early detection and timely intervention of common mental disorders; the role of communication and health education to reduce social stigma against people with mental illness...

The conference is an opportunity for psychiatric medical units in the Southern region to enhance professional exchanges, experiences, and share operational models, etc. Thereby, contributing to improving the quality of health protection and care for people in the coming years.
