Enhancing the capacity for community mental health protection.

On October 2, the Central Psychiatric Hospital 2 organized a conference to improve the capacity of community mental health protection work in commemoration of World Mental Health Day, October 10. The conference was held in Khanh Hoa province, attracting nearly 150 delegates who are leaders, officers, and doctors working at psychiatric hospitals, forensic psychiatric institutes, and disease control centers in the southern provinces and cities.

At the conference, delegates were updated on the Ministry of Health's guidance and implementation of Project 1816 (technology transfer to lower-level facilities) at Central Psychiatric Hospital No. 1 and Central Psychiatric Hospital No. 2 in 2025; discussed challenges regarding human resources in community mental health care; and heard presentations on mental health care activities in Da Nang, Khanh Hoa, and the mental health care system in Thailand.

The head of the Department of Health delivered a speech at the conference.

In addition, delegates also shared experiences in early detection and timely intervention of common mental disorders; the role of media and health education in reducing social stigma against people with mental illness…

The conference provides an opportunity for specialized mental health units in the Southern region to enhance professional exchange, share experiences, and discuss operational models… thereby contributing to improving the quality of health protection and care for the people in the coming years.
