Pianist Luu Hong Quang returns home to perform a concert Journey of revival after storm number 3

Artist Luu Hong Quang is currently pursuing a PhD in New Zealand; he recently returned to Vietnam to perform the concert " Journey of Revival: With Liszt, Schumann & Brahms".

The event was organized by MAESTOSO in collaboration with the Vietnam National Academy of Music. The event will take place on the evening of October 8th at the concert hall of the Vietnam National Academy of Music.

"I want to share my emotions with the audience."

Luu Hong Quang shared with Tuoi Tre Online that Vietnam has recently experienced natural disasters and losses. Many events have moved him deeply. He wanted to share his feelings with the audience in the capital city.

Taking the audience back to the classical music of the Romantic era, the concert opened with the dramatic and tragic atmosphere of Franz Liszt's Funérailles (Funeral March).

"I chose this piece because its melodies commemorate the sacrifices of heroes."

"It's not just sadness, longing, or weakness, but also pride and courage," the artist confided.

Following Funérailles is Robert Schumann's Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood), which depicts a peaceful and idyllic world of childhood.

Luu Hong Quang explained his choice of this work was due to its connection between loss and rebirth. "After hardships, we remember the past but must also look to the future, hoping for brighter things ahead. The innocence and purity of childhood are the hope for the future," he said.

Johannes Brahms' masterpiece, the F minor Sonata, Op. 5 , not only revives the vibrant musical transitions of the Romantic era but also conveys images and stories that point towards a noble ideal.

According to Luu Hong Quang, the concert will run from evening until dawn. That's the overarching emotional theme of all the works he wants to dedicate to the Hanoi audience at this time.

Music offers refuge during challenging moments in life.

Explaining his choice of Romantic classical music for this return performance, the artist stated that the music of this period is close to the human spirit.

"It expresses genuine human emotions in many different nuances, and each person perceives it in their own way."

"It's not bound by overly strict structures, but rather offers flexibility and freedom for perception," Luu Hong Quang expressed.

The artist chose two romantic German musical pieces to perform, as German composers often pose profound questions about life.

He cited Brahms, who said that music is the companionship of triumphal songs and darkness, between light and night.

It was a struggle, not always smooth and easy. There were times when music was like a treasure, protecting my soul during challenging moments of fate.
