Speaking to the press, midfielder Haykal Danish expressed his confidence: “We aim to win the next match. A draw is enough to help U22 Malaysia enter the semi-finals, but we aim for victory to regain our honor against U22 Vietnam.
U22 Vietnam has good physique and fast playing style. Therefore, with players with limited physique, we need to move the ball quickly."
The Selangor player said the cohesion within the Malaysian squad has gotten better and better, with a level of understanding that is far superior to previous matches. He affirmed that the team this time came to the SEA Games with more thorough preparation.
According to the tournament format, the top three teams in each group and the second-placed team with the best record will advance to the semi-finals. Therefore, U22 Vietnam and U22 Malaysia only need a draw to secure their place in the group stage.

However, coach Nafuzi Zain and his team received bad news when they were without two important pillars. Winger Haqimi Azim was forced to return home after receiving news of his stepfather's death, while Haziq Kutty suffered a serious injury and could not continue to accompany the rest of the tournament.
The match between U22 Vietnam and U22 Malaysia takes place at 4:00 p.m. on December 11.
