The station has a unique cog railway in Vietnam.

Da Lat Railway Station (Da Lat city, Lam Dong ) was started by the French in 1932 and completed in 1938.

Da Lat Railway Station was designed by French architects. The front of the building has 3 roofs, simulating the 3 peaks of Langbiang Mountain and the roofs of the communal houses of the Central Highlands.

Da Lat Station is part of the plan to build the Thap Cham ( Ninh Thuan ) - Da Lat (Lam Dong) railway line. In the past, this railway line had a total length of 84km, connecting the highland city with the North - South railway line.

The Thap Cham - Da Lat railway line passes through the mountainous plateau area, so the French built 16km of cog railway for the train to climb the slope.

It is known that at that time, cog railways and steam locomotives with cog railway connection systems were unique, only found in Switzerland and Vietnam.

At Da Lat station, a steam locomotive is being preserved and displayed for tourists to see.

The wheel system, transmission shaft and pressure system of the old locomotive. Currently, Da Lat station together with the Cathedral (Chicken Church) and Da Lat Pedagogical College (Grand Lycée Yersin) have become 3 symbols of Da Lat city.

Da Lat Station has become an ideal tourist destination, a favorite check-in and souvenir photo spot for locals and tourists.

Today, Da Lat station maintains a tourist train consisting of 1 regular locomotive and 3 carriages running the inner-city route Da Lat station - Trai Mat station with a total length of 7km.

On this tour, visitors can experience a train journey on the plateau, admire the scenery of Da Lat and enjoy music.
