Kinhtedothi - On the morning of December 25th, Thang Long Puppet Theatre solemnly celebrated its 55th anniversary (October 10, 1969 - October 10, 2024) and received the Third-Class Labor Medal.
Before the ceremony, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee, Nguyen Van Phong, presented flowers and congratulated the officials, artists, actors, and staff of the Thang Long Puppet Theatre.
Attending the ceremony were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong; and Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Thu Ha.

In his commemorative speech, Meritorious Artist Tran Thanh Hien - Director of Thang Long Puppet Theatre - emphasized that in 1969, Thang Long Puppet Theatre was established as an art unit with the function of performing puppet art (dry puppets and water puppets); collecting, preserving and promoting the value of traditional puppet art of Thang Long - Hanoi.
Over the past 55 years, through many ups and downs, generations of leaders, artists, actors, and staff of the theater have always united to cultivate virtue, hone their talents, persevere, and innovate in art, leading the theater and Thang Long puppet art to continuous development and ever-increasing brilliance.
Thanks to this, Thang Long Puppet Theatre has not only become an increasingly attractive destination for domestic and international tourists but has also promoted and made a deep impression on the unique traditional Vietnamese water puppet art to the public in more than 40 countries around the world … In particular, to date, Thang Long Puppet Theatre has had continuous performances 365 days a year, becoming a leading brand of Vietnamese puppet art.

“On this new journey, along with the development of the country and the capital city, Thang Long Puppet Theatre always maintains a spirit of innovation, creativity, and commitment to the roots of national culture, promoting the fine traditions of the unit, and taking the theatre to further reach new heights, so that Vietnamese puppet art not only endures and develops, but also becomes a unique cultural brand of the country,” affirmed Meritorious Artist Tran Thanh Hien.
Speaking at the anniversary ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports, Do Dinh Hong, acknowledged the achievements of the Thang Long Puppet Theatre over the past 55 years. He also affirmed that, with the contributions of many generations of artists, the theatre has become one of the most successful traditional art units in the capital; and a unit that has actively contributed to the implementation of Resolution No. 09-NQ/TU of the Hanoi City Party Committee on the development of the capital's cultural industry for the period 2021-2025, with orientations to 2030 and a vision to 2045.

Looking ahead to 2025 and the subsequent period, the Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports requested that the Thang Long Puppet Theatre strive to comprehensively and surpassingly fulfill all targets and tasks set by the Culture and Sports sector; and continue to be the "leading flag" of traditional arts in the Capital.
The theater must be creative, developing unique and diverse puppet art programs that reflect the cultural identity of Thang Long - Hanoi. At the same time, it must adapt to contemporary artistic trends, contributing to enhancing the cultural and spiritual life of the people and domestic and international tourists, gradually developing the cultural industry market, promoting the socio-economic development of the capital, and ultimately contributing to the cultural sector's efforts to build a cultural industry center and cultural space for Hanoi.

In addition, we will continue to organize important activities of the Capital and the country well in 2025, and be ready to participate in joint foreign affairs activities organized by the city domestically and abroad, to contribute to spreading cultural values and national identity, promoting the image of Vietnam on the international stage, and fostering a sense of belonging among the Vietnamese community abroad.
On this occasion, Thang Long Puppet Theatre is honored to receive the Third-Class Labor Medal, recognizing the theatre's positive contributions to the building and development of an advanced Vietnamese culture rich in national identity.
