Quang Ninh LNG power plant worth 2.2 billion USD is expected to start construction on December 19.

The Quang Ninh LNG Power Plant project has a total area of nearly 110 hectares. The project is in the list of national key energy projects in the Government's Power Plan VIII, with a scale of 2 units and a total capacity of 1,500 MW. The total investment of the project is over 2.2 billion USD, with Quang Ninh LNG Power Joint Stock Company as the investor.

To speed up the progress of the groundbreaking ceremony of the Quang Ninh LNG Power Plant project, recently, the leaders of Cua Ong ward, Quang Ninh province worked with the investor, businesses and related units to remove some obstacles.

Currently, the investor has completed the ground leveling design, bidding documents for the general contractor for design, equipment procurement and construction, and submitted land lease documents. Along with the area of more than 1.7 hectares that had previously completed site clearance, in September 2025, Cua Ong ward completed the site clearance of nearly 34 hectares and handed it over to the Investment and Construction Project Management Board of Region II to carry out the next steps to hand over to the project investor.

For the area related to organizations and wards, Cua Ong is completing the procedures to recover land on schedule.

At the working session of Cua Ong ward with the investor, enterprises, and related units, the parties discussed and exchanged on the plan for supplying electricity, water, and traffic to serve the construction of the ground leveling phase of the project implementation. On that basis, the parties agreed on the plan to serve the project such as: supplying electricity, water, traffic, etc.

Cua Ong Ward authorities affirmed that they will actively coordinate and create the best, fastest, and earliest conditions for the investor to ensure that the project will start construction on December 19, 2025 according to the direction of the province.

Quang Ninh LNG Power Plant Project is one of the key projects using non-budgetary capital in Quang Ninh province. The commencement of the project is of great significance in contributing to the implementation of the task of energy conversion, prioritizing the development of renewable energy and new energy according to the Resolution of the 16th Congress of the Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term.
