Aston Villa vs Arsenal Prediction: Gunners overcome thousands of obstacles

Aston Villa dealt a heavy blow to Arsenal's 2023/24 championship ambitions with a 2-0 victory in mid-April 2024, indirectly helping Man City win the Premier League.

However, there seems to be a different feeling about Arsenal this season. The Gunners are the most promising candidate in the predictions of the supercomputer Opta, with a chance of winning the Premier League up to 82%.

The London team is rated so highly because of their excellent form since the beginning of the season. They travel to Villa Park today with a 5-point gap over second-placed Man City.

Despite having to compete continuously on all fronts, with many key players injured, Arsenal still moved forward. The latest was a convincing 2-0 victory over Brentford in the middle of the week.

Mikel Arteta's side may be disappointed to have failed to overcome Chelsea, who were down to 10 men from half-time. However, the Gunners' away record has been impressive, losing just one of their last 21 Premier League away games (W11 D9).

The key to that impressive run has been the defence, with Arsenal having not conceded more than two goals in their last 108 games in all competitions.

From the bottom of the table, The Villians climbed to the top, just behind Arsenal and Man City. In fact, Aston Villa have won all 5 recent matches at Villa Park.

In midweek, Ollie Watkins' double gave Villa a 4-3 win away to tough opponents Brighton. Therefore, Emery's students are full of confidence when returning to their home ground to face Arsenal.
