There are no exceptions for celebrities.

The recent controversy surrounding numerous artists and celebrities involved in drug-related activities has stirred public opinion. On the morning of July 24th, the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) announced that it is finalizing the case file to hand over to the Lao Cai Provincial Police for handling the case involving Vu Xuan B. (28 years old, residing in Thanh Ha District, former Hai Duong Province , now Hai Phong), who shows signs of disturbing public order.

Accordingly, at approximately 6 PM on July 23rd, Vu Xuan B. was driving a white Audi with license plate 30M-000.26, swerving and cutting off other vehicles traveling in the same direction, showing signs of disturbing public order on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway. At approximately 10 PM on July 23rd, traffic police stopped the vehicle and conducted a check on Vu Xuan B. Upon examination, the traffic police determined that Vu Xuan B. tested positive for marijuana and cannabis.

Soon after, information about Vu Xuan B. attracted attention from netizens. Many people continuously searched for information about this person and realized that he was a rapper with the stage name Binh Gold, who works in the mumble rap style.

Previously, designer Nguyen Cong Tri was arrested for "buying, selling, and organizing the illegal use of narcotics." Cong Tri is known as the "elder statesman" of Vietnamese fashion, with over 20 years of activity and a profound influence both domestically and internationally. Many stars, such as singer Chi Dan and model Andrea (known by the stage name An "Tay"), have also been arrested for drug-related scandals.

Deputy Director of the Department of Performing Arts, Tran Huong Duong, affirmed: "Artists are also citizens and must abide by the law. We have also developed a code of conduct for artists based on the legal framework and require strict implementation. Violations of the law and principles will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law."

Deputy Director Tran Huong Duong stated that there would be no favoritism or exceptions for artists or celebrities. In fact, the more famous they are, the more strictly and fairly they should be punished to set an example.

"Artists are celebrities, so they need to be even more aware. When violations occur, our stance is to handle them strictly and fairly. There are no forbidden areas, no exceptions," Mr. Tran Huong Duong added.

There will be restrictions on posting images of celebrities who have broken the law.

A report presented at the conference summarizing the work of the first six months and outlining tasks for the last six months of 2025 by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (held on July 17th in Hanoi ) affirmed that activities to clean up the online social media environment and coordinate the handling of counterfeit goods (fake medicine, fake milk and functional foods) are being intensified.

The amended Advertising Law 2025, effective from January 1, 2026, was passed on June 16, 2025, at the 9th Session of the 15th National Assembly. It adds regulations regarding the obligations of celebrities when promoting advertising products. In addition to the general obligations of other individuals, there will be some specific obligations.

Mr. Le Quang Tu Do hopes that a legal document will soon be issued to regulate the restriction of images of celebrities who violate the law.

This is a step aimed at cleaning up the market, preventing counterfeit and fake goods, and ensuring the quality of life and health of the people.

According to Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, the restriction on posting information and images of artists who violate regulations is currently only at the level of encouragement, and has not yet been concretized in legal documents.

"Currently, the law does not stipulate that celebrities and artists who violate regulations are prohibited from appearing in the press and media. The Department of Broadcasting, Television and Electronic Information is currently working on a process to encourage (on a voluntary basis) performing arts organizations, press agencies, and media outlets not to publish images of artists who violate regulations. However, since it is an appeal, they have the right to do so or not. We very much want to institutionalize this through legislation to ensure a firmer stance. As soon as possible, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will hold a meeting with the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee to conduct a pilot program. We believe that it can be implemented in some cases," Mr. Le Quang Tu Do affirmed.
