On the evening of September 3, at the Prague City Library, the ASEAN Film Festival officially opened with the participation of 9 countries including: Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, China, Japan and South Korea.
Attending the opening ceremony were Deputy Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic David Kaspar, Ambassadors and Charge d'Affaires of the ASEAN Committee in Prague; representatives of several ministries, branches, diplomatic corps and hundreds of cinema lovers, creating an emotional space of cultural exchange.
Opening the program is the short animated film Love, Dad (2021) by director Diana Cam Van Nguyen, a Czech of Vietnamese origin.
The work depicts the complex relationship between father and daughter, starting with old letters from her father when she was a child. Those letters not only awaken memories, but also stir up nostalgia, love and a desire to reconnect with loved ones.
The film combines real footage and sophisticated animation, creating a unique artistic language, making the audience feel both closeness and distance in family relationships.

Chairwoman of the ASEAN Committee in Prague, Indonesian Ambassador Rina P. Soemarno, said: “This is the first time I have organized the ASEAN Film Festival in the Czech Republic, and I believe that cinema is a great medium for ASEAN countries to share cultural exchange with their Czech counterparts. Prague, the heart of Europe, known as a city of arts and culture, is the perfect setting for these stories.”

The ASEAN+3 Film Festival Week 2025 takes place from September 3-10, where audiences will enjoy attractive films from Asian countries, promising to attract thousands of audiences and overseas Vietnamese who love cinema.
