Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh visits and works in the Czech Republic

From September 18-21, a delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly led by Party Central Committee member and Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh visited and worked in the Czech Republic.

During the working visit to the Czech Republic, on September 19, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh and the Vietnamese National Assembly delegation met with President of the Senate Milos Vystrcil and held talks with Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Jan Skopececk.

The leaders of the Czech Senate and the House of Representatives both emphasized the significance of the visit in the context of the two countries celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1950-2025) and the establishment of the Strategic Partnership framework in January 2025; affirming that the Czech Republic always attaches importance to promoting relations with Vietnam - an important partner and potential market of the Czech Republic in Southeast Asia. The leaders of the Czech Parliament acknowledged the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic with outstanding values, namely diligence, hard work, being loved by the Czech people and considered a part of Czech society.

Expressing her joy and gratitude for the warm and cordial welcome of the President of the Senate and Vice President of the House of Representatives of the Czech Republic, Vice President of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen the traditional friendship with the Czech Republic - one of Vietnam's priority partners in the Central Eastern Europe region; emphasizing that the Vietnamese people always remember the valuable support and assistance of the Czech people in the struggle for independence and the construction and development of the country.

The two sides highly appreciated the strong development of two-way trade turnover, reaching over 2 billion USD in 2024, an increase of 78% compared to 2023; and more and more Czech enterprises are interested in expanding investment and business in Vietnam, typically the automobile manufacturing factory project of Skoda Group; affirming that with the openness of the two economies, the two sides still have a lot of potential for cooperation in fields such as renewable energy, machinery manufacturing, supporting industries, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, high technology, etc.

The two sides spent time discussing specific measures to effectively implement the Vietnam-Czech Republic Strategic Partnership framework, promote existing cooperation mechanisms such as the Vietnam-Czech Republic Intergovernmental Committee on Economic Cooperation; promote cooperation in many fields such as politics - diplomacy, labor, education - training, security - defense, people-to-people exchange and parliamentary cooperation, and soon open a direct flight between Vietnam and the Czech Republic.

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh expressed her gratitude and hoped that the Czech authorities at all levels would accept Vietnamese workers. Along with informing about Vietnam's policy of 45-day visa exemption for Czech tourists from August 15, 2025, the Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly also asked the Czech Republic to facilitate the issuance of entry visas to the Czech Republic for Vietnamese citizens.

Responding to the request of National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thanh, the Czech Vice Chairwoman of the House of Representatives affirmed that she will pay close attention and promote the completion of the ratification of the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) and the European Commission (EC) to consider removing the IUU Yellow Card for Vietnam's seafood exports.

Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the Vice President of the National Assembly suggested that the two sides increase exchanges of delegations of National Assembly leaders, Committees and friendship parliamentary groups to share experiences in legislation and supervision; and coordinate and support each other at multilateral parliamentary forums. The Vice President of the National Assembly welcomed the Czech Senate President's plan to visit Vietnam at the end of 2025 and respectfully invited the Czech House of Representatives leader to visit Vietnam at an appropriate time.

Previously, on the afternoon of September 18, upon arriving in Prague, the delegation of Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh visited the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​met with officials and staff of the Embassy, ​​representatives of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic and attended the Party Badge Awarding Ceremony for overseas party members organized by the Party Committee in the Czech Republic.

Reporting on the work of the Embassy and the situation of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam affirmed the Embassy's determination to actively implement major policies and resolutions of the Party and State on promoting international integration, science and technology, health care, education and training; and at the same time continue to be a bridge to support the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic.

Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh praised the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic for always making efforts to fulfill assigned tasks, including work on overseas Vietnamese, making important contributions to enhancing the Vietnam-Czech relationship; affirming that the National Assembly always pays attention, supports, and creates the most favorable conditions for Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to operate effectively. The Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly was moved and proud of the continuous growth of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic; affirming that the Party, State and National Assembly of Vietnam always pay attention and consistently hold the view that the overseas Vietnamese community is an inseparable part of the great national unity bloc; expressing her belief that with the tradition of solidarity and attachment, the community will continue to grow and strongly affirm the position, role and image of Vietnam in the Czech Republic.

In the solemn, emotional and proud atmosphere at the Ceremony of awarding 55, 50, 45, 40 and 30-year Party membership badges to 11 overseas Party members, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh highly appreciated the heartfelt sharing of Party members who always maintained their steadfast spirit and steadfast belief in the Party's guidelines; expressed her wish that overseas Party members continue to promote their bravery and intelligence, contributing to building a strong and united community.
