AI is increasingly applied

Artificial intelligence (AI) helps optimize everything from production processes to labor management and resource management, helping businesses improve performance and increase competitiveness.

According to Nguyen Doan Ket, Deputy General Director of Rang Dong Light Bulb and Vacuum Flask Joint Stock Company, the company has soon learned about the features and functions of AI tools to build a separate strategy, suitable for production and business practices.

Rang Dong has focused on 5 main pillars: applying AI in production and service development; supporting the construction of smart production; developing new business models; in management, operation and investment in building digital data centers.

The application of AI is chosen by businesses, prioritizing production processes that are facing bottlenecks, weak processes, and processes with enough data and human resources for effective implementation.

“The company has successfully commercialized the 4.0 product and service ecosystem, bringing to market products applying AI technology. At the same time, a green, smart and flexible production system has also been built, with an increasing level of automation, robotization and AI. Rang Dong has also developed a digital business model, contributing to increasing revenue…”, said Mr. Nguyen Doan Ket.

In the textile industry, Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex) is a typical unit for applying AI in production and supply chain management, forecasting production and business needs as well as market demand, thereby reducing production time by 30%.

In the manufacturing process, AI is used to analyze production data, identify bottlenecks and suggest improvement solutions. AI supports more accurate market demand forecasting, helping Vinatex adjust production plans and manage inventory effectively, minimizing surplus or shortage of raw materials.

Moreover, by analyzing consumption data and market trends, AI helps Vinatex predict customer needs, thereby optimizing production and product supply to suit actual needs.

Regarding this issue, Deputy Director of the Department of E-commerce and Digital Economy (Ministry of Industry and Trade) Hoang Ninh said that the application of AI in production in Vietnam is becoming more and more popular. AI is not only a trend but also an important factor to help improve production and business efficiency in a highly competitive environment, and should be considered a strategic goal by businesses.

Many challenges remain

According to Mr. Hoang Ninh, the application of science and technology, including AI, in Vietnam in the coming time depends on 5 factors.

That is, AI products need to meet the requirements of intelligent automation; effectively support big data analysis; help optimize the supply chain, improve efficiency and reduce waste; manage smart production so that businesses operate more efficiently and apply AI to develop smarter and higher-value products.

However, this is not easy, because to apply AI to production, first of all, we need data, which is a method for the machine system to be able to "talk, communicate, and transmit data" with each other.

This is a challenge for many production and business establishments when owning a system of machinery and equipment with different origins, origins and generations, making it difficult to exchange data and create a smooth operating system.

In addition, according to Nguyen Doan Ket, Deputy General Director of Rang Dong Light Bulb and Vacuum Flask Joint Stock Company, the difficulty is that the cost of using the current technology platform is too high, especially from foreign suppliers. Therefore, businesses want the State to support the development of domestic AI platforms at reasonable costs; at the same time, it is necessary to soon establish common protocol standards so that AI devices of domestic enterprises can operate synchronously, avoiding dependence on individual ecosystems.

Director of the AI Consulting and Implementation Center (FPT Smart Cloud) Ho Minh Thang said that this unit is cooperating with NVIDIA (a leading foreign investment company in AI) to develop specialized AI solutions for fields such as manufacturing, banking, and retail.

This approach not only optimizes investment costs but also helps businesses access and apply AI effectively, opening up opportunities for comprehensive digital transformation.

Tran Manh Ha, Deputy Director of the Institute of Electronics, Informatics and Automation Research (Ministry of Industry and Trade), said that in order for AI to develop more strongly in industry, it is necessary to focus on training human resources, supporting policies for applied research and issuing AI standards in production. Establishing standards will help businesses easily apply new technologies, accelerating the digital transformation process.

In order to promote AI application, in the coming time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade will develop a program to support enterprises in digital transformation and AI application in the fields of textiles, footwear, processing and manufacturing. At the same time, it will coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to propose preferential policies on capital and credit to support science and technology enterprises; promote the construction of big data to serve AI development.

The Ministry also recommended that localities should proactively build high-tech parks and smart industrial parks to create a favorable environment for businesses to apply technology. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the connection between businesses and research organizations and universities to promote innovation.
