The floor score is the minimum score that candidates must achieve to apply for admission to a university. The standard score for admission to the university will be announced later. Therefore, candidates should note that the floor score is a necessary condition, not a sufficient condition for admission.

Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Thi Hien, Head of Training Management Department, Foreign Trade University, recommends that it is necessary to distinguish between the floor score and the admission score to avoid unfortunate mistakes. Due to the different nature, the admission score will usually be higher than the floor score, depending on the situation of candidates applying for admission to that major and school. In fact, some schools announce admission scores that are 6-9 points higher than the floor score.

For example, in 2021, the admission score of the National Economics University (Hanoi) fluctuated from 26.8 to 28.3 points, while the minimum admission score was only 20 points. Therefore, candidates need to be careful when registering for admission, and should refer to the admission scores of previous years of the major/school they intend to apply for.

Along with that, candidates learn about the enrollment quota, training program, and job opportunities of that industry/school. After researching and considering many factors, candidates register their admission wishes on the General Admission Support System of the Ministry of Education and Training.

To apply for admission, candidates should rely on two factors: high school graduation exam scores and admission standards in recent years of the schools to which candidates apply.

Currently, many universities have announced the minimum admission score.

On July 19, Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced the predicted admission scores for 2024 based on the high school graduation exam scores. The three majors expected to have the highest admission scores are Computer Science , Computer Engineering, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence with a score of over 28 points. These are also the majors with the highest admission scores in recent years.

Majors with admission scores of 27-28 are Control and Automation Engineering, Digital Space Security, Information Technology (Vietnam - Japan, Global ICT, Vietnam - France). There are also majors that only require 20-22.75 points such as Textile Technology, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources and Environment Management, Materials Science and Engineering (advanced program). The forecasted scores for these majors are about 0.75 points higher than last year. Hanoi University of Science and Technology also forecasts the admission score based on the thinking assessment test score to be 50 or higher.

Foreign Trade University (FTU) announced the threshold to ensure input quality for two methods of using high school graduation exam scores. Accordingly, FTU takes the floor score of 24 for the high school graduation exam score method, an increase of 0.5 points compared to 2023. If applying for admission using 3 subjects (method 4), candidates must achieve a minimum score of 24 points to be eligible for admission. This level applies to all majors, including priority points. If combining exam scores with international language certificate conversion scores (method 3), the floor score is from 16-17. This is the sum of two subjects, including Math and one of Physics, Chemistry, Literature, excluding priority points. In 2023, the standard score according to the high school graduation exam score method of Foreign Trade University is about 26.2-28.5 points.

Hanoi Law University said that the minimum score for admission based on the results of the high school graduation exam is divided into 3 levels: 15, 18 and 20. Level 20 points applies to candidates applying for admission with the C00 combination (Literature, History, Geography) and 18 for other combinations. This is the total score of 3 subjects, not including priority points. For the majors of International Commercial Law and English Language, candidates need to have an English score of 7 or higher. If applying to the school's branch in Dak Lak, candidates only need a total score of 15 for 3 subjects to be eligible.

The Academy of Journalism and Communication announced two minimum scores on a scale of 30 and 40, respectively 18 and 25. The training programs are divided into 4 groups. Group 1 includes Journalism majors, group 2 is theory, group 3 is History major, specializing in Party History, group 4 includes majors in Communication, Advertising, and International Relations. Groups 1, 3, and 4 have main subjects (Literature, History, English) in each admission group, calculated on a scale of 40, in which the main subject is doubled. The minimum score of this group is 25 points, similar to last year. Majors in group 2 do not have any subject coefficient multiplied, taking the minimum score as 18/30. Candidates must achieve an average of 6.5 points in grades 10, 11, and semester I of grade 12 or higher, with good conduct to be eligible to submit an application.

The minimum score for admission to the University of Commerce is 20 for all majors.

All majors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) take a floor score of 20 for a combination of 3 subjects.

FPT University also announced the admission standard score is 21 points.

From July 18 to 5:00 p.m. on July 30, the System is officially open for candidates to register for university admission.
