Major renovation of the project

Truong Dong Communal House was built in the early 19th century by fishermen from localities such as Da Nang, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak... who came to Cua Be to settle down. After a period of stable living, the local people named the village Truong Dong and built a mausoleum and communal house to have a place of worship, placing their faith in the supernatural world . Over time, Truong Dong Communal House has been degraded and restored many times. The most recent restoration was in mid-2024 and has now been completed. Truong Dong Communal House has been renovated and repaired in all items, with a total cost of more than 13 billion VND from the budget. According to the Provincial Development Project Management Board - the investor of the restoration project, Truong Dong Communal House was raised overall to ensure synchronization with the road and neighboring areas; built an internal drainage system; Repair and restore damaged structures and architectural components of items such as: Ancestral house, Ong Nam Hai mausoleum, uncles' house , kitchen, east house (hall), Ba temple (five elements temple), Ong Ho temple, Co Hoa temple, flagpole, ceremonial gate, relic stele, fence... The restoration of Truong Dong communal house relic is in compliance with technical and aesthetic requirements for historical and cultural relic works, with the professional advice and supervision of the relic assessment council.

According to Mr. Tran Nam Binh - Party Secretary, Chairman of the People's Council of Nam Nha Trang Ward, the Truong Dong communal house relic exists along with the history of formation and development of the land south of Nha Trang. The communal house is a testament to the existence of Truong Dong village, which converges almost all the values that our ancestors created and passed down. Truong Dong communal house is one of the relics that preserves quite intact the typical ancient features of the architectural style of Khanh Hoa and South Central region during the Nguyen Dynasty. Recognizing that important significance, the local government and people have restored and embellished the relic in accordance with the cultural heritage conservation plan. The completed project demonstrates the determination of the government, the consensus of the people and the attention of specialized agencies in preserving the historical values of the locality.

On November 29, the inauguration ceremony of the Truong Dong communal house renovation project was solemnly held by the People's Committee of Nam Nha Trang ward. Participating in the ceremony, we felt the solemn and bustling atmosphere here. From early morning, the elders and members of the Truong Dong communal house historical and cultural relic management board performed rituals to worship ancestors and local gods to pray for peace and prosperity for the country. The sound of gongs and drums mixed with prayers for peace, favorable weather, and a happy country... brought many emotions to the people here. During the ceremony, there was also an exciting lion-lion-dragon performance, attracting the attention of the people and tourists. Ms. Le Thi Chinh - a resident of Truong Dong Residential Group, said: "I have lived here since I was a child, now I am 80 years old, witnessing many ups and downs, joys and sorrows with this communal house. Every year, people gather at the communal house to attend the Nam Hai Ong worship ceremony, the communal house worship ceremony. Last year, because the communal house had to be renovated, people could not perform traditional rituals, so they felt very sad. Now that the communal house has been renovated, we feel very happy. From now on, we will continue to perform solemn and exciting rituals under the Truong Dong communal house roof."

According to Mr. Pham Nhu Y - Secretary of the Management Board of Truong Dong Communal House, after many years of serious degradation, the communal house has received attention from authorities at all levels and functional agencies to invest in major renovations. Up to now, the project has been completed, bringing great joy and excitement to the people. Through this, not only the tangible and intangible values related to the communal house are preserved, but also help people practice good religious and spiritual rituals. Every year, Truong Dong Communal House organizes 3 major ceremonies including: Cau Ngu Festival on the 11th day of the 2nd lunar month; Ong Nam Hai worship ceremony on the 7th day of the 7th lunar month; and the national peace and security ceremony on the 10th day of the 10th lunar month. The restored communal house has added faith and spiritual motivation for people to confidently go out to sea.

The inauguration of Truong Dong communal house has brought great joy to the local people. Through this, it also shows the attention of the authorities at all levels to the preservation of traditional cultural values of the people in Truong Dong - Cua Be area; fostering love for the homeland and pride in traditional culture for the young generation; at the same time contributing to creating a spiritual cultural tourist destination of Nam Nha Trang ward.

Truong Dong Communal House faces Cua Be, its back leans against Chut Mountain, with a total area of over ^1,100m2 . Currently, the communal house still preserves many valuable relics, antiques, and cultural heritages, such as: 7 royal decrees of the Nguyen Dynasty; parallel sentences; Han Nom documents; long dinh; parasols; traditional musical instruments; ho ba trao; rituals and ceremonies; ritual music; ritual costumes... With its typical values, Truong Dong Communal House relic was ranked as a provincial-level historical-cultural relic by the Provincial People's Committee on February 9, 2010.
