Due to prolonged heat and drought, most domestic water sources in the province have decreased sharply, with some sources experiencing a 30-50% shortage, even drying up, such as station 19/5, Binh Minh station, Co Noi commune center station, Mai Son district; Pe stream source, Bac Yen district; Airport source of Muong La district...

Mr. Tran Quyet Chien, Director of Son La Water Supply Joint Stock Company, said: The Company is managing 12 branches, affiliated enterprises and 28 water treatment stations, with a capacity of about 38,500m3 /day and night, serving over 61,500 households in the province. To ensure continuous, stable and quality water supply, the Company coordinates with local authorities in areas where water shortages often occur to focus on propaganda and guidance for people to raise awareness in using water economically and effectively. Continue to focus investment resources, build water treatment stations, upgrade transmission pipelines connecting water supply stations, establish water supply regions and inter-regions to provide support between stations and regions when water shortages occur.

In addition, Son La Water Supply Joint Stock Company directed water supply enterprises and branches in the province to dredge water sources, review machinery and equipment, and inspect all pipelines to promptly detect and fix problems affecting water supply. According to forecasts, hot and dry weather will continue, along with the efforts of the authorities, people need to raise awareness in using water economically. In the long term, localities need to increase afforestation, manage and protect forests, especially upstream forests, to ensure water sources for daily life and production.
