People's Artist Minh Vuong showed his artistic talent from a young age. When he was only 12 years old, he studied singing with musician Bay Trach. Two years later, when he saw information about the Khoi Nguyen Vong Co contest, the male artist asked his teacher to try. "At that time, the teacher said my voice was already good, if I wanted to, I could compete. So I went through the rounds such as preliminary, semi-final, final and was awarded first place. That was the contest in 1964", the singer of Banh Bong Lan recalled.

After this impressive achievement, People's Artist Minh Vuong was noticed by Mr. Long and invited to work at the Kim Chung troupe. According to the male artist, he signed a contract with a salary of 5,000 VND. The male artist divided that amount into two, half for his family, half for the teacher who took the trouble to teach him in his early days in the profession. "From then on, I entered the Cai Luong stage and worked for the Kim Chung troupe," he confided.
At the beginning of his association with the troupe, People's Artist Minh Vuong faced difficulties because "playing the role of a child was too old, and playing a male lead was not yet up to par." Therefore, the producer Long had to ask the author to write segments for People's Artist Minh Vuong to run onto the stage, singing vọng cổ to serve the audience. "Two years later, I was assigned the main role, then sang with My Chau and Le Thuy," he shared. It is known that this was also the milestone that helped him become a star of the cải lương stage at that time.
Concerns of People's Artist Minh Vuong
Looking back at that time, People's Artist Minh Vuong confided that he and other Cai Luong artists had to face many difficulties. To go a long way in the profession, the male artist said that he had to try to endure and be patient. "I advise young people that now there are many advantages, but the important thing is to be patient and diligent in learning. You should not be self-conscious, you must try to overcome difficulties because this profession is like that. If you are self-conscious about everything, it will be difficult to last," People's Artist Minh Vuong confided.
According to People's Artist Minh Vuong, the young generation of artists needs to learn from their seniors but also find their own path to be able to stick with the profession for a long time.

According to the singer of Banh Bong Lan , many young people are determined to pursue Cai Luong because they love their senior artists. However, he advised: “When you learn, you will have similarities with us. That is an advantage. But once you have had training, you must try to find your own path, do not be like those who came before. When you overcome that, the audience will see and like your voice,” People's Artist Minh Vuong shared.
In his career, People's Artist Minh Vuong left many impressions through his roles, including the role of Nguyen Trai in Rang Ngoc Con Son . Remembering this work, the Cai Luong singer said that at that time, he once asked director Doan Ba to let him try out the role of an old man. For him, this was a way to satisfy his love of transformation, and also an opportunity to learn.
“At that time, I had to change my voice and practice the gestures of an old man. Thanks to that, the play was successful. That day, a famous artist in Hanoi saw me perform this play, then came on stage, hugged me and said: So there is someone to replace Dad. That made me very happy,” he said.
