Time magazine explains the reason, because the US President-elect "has made a historic comeback... pushed for an unprecedented political restructuring... reshaped the American presidency and changed America's role in the world".

Affirming that "Mr. Trump's political rebirth is unprecedented in American history," Time added, "he spent six weeks of his campaign in a New York City courtroom, the first former president to be indicted" but "that did not diminish his support."
This is the second time Mr. Donald Trump has been voted Person of the Year by the prestigious American magazine. He previously received this title in 2016, after being elected President for his first term.
Time 's honoring of Donald Trump was not difficult to predict as the magazine has often given the title of Person of the Year to the winner of US elections since President George W. Bush in 2000.
President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were named Person of the Year in 2020, after defeating Mr Trump in that year's election. Singer Taylor Swift will receive the title in 2023.
Mr. Donald Trump is expected to take office on January 20.
