The “First Vietnamese-Chinese, Chinese-Vietnamese Literature Translation Contest” is an activity to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-China diplomatic relations, and the Vietnam-China Humanities Year, while creating an academic playground for students, international students and the community who love literature and language.

The contest is organized by the Consulate General of China in Ho Chi Minh City, Chi Culture Joint Stock Company (Chibooks) in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages ​​and Information Technology, Beijing University of Foreign Studies (Vietnam Studies Center), Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association, Chinese Writers Association, and Chinese Literature Reading Club in Vietnam.

Participants are students majoring in Chinese language in Vietnam who are able to translate Vietnamese - Chinese, Chinese students majoring in Vietnamese, Vietnamese students studying in China and freelance translators who are able to translate Vietnamese - Chinese.

Candidates choose to translate typical contemporary Vietnamese and Chinese poems or short stories (no more than 1,000 words) from the list of works provided by the organizing committee. The list of entries for the Vietnamese-Chinese translation contest (for Chinese candidates) includes famous works of Vietnamese literature such as: Blue Lotus (Son Tung), Waves (Xuan Quynh), Little Spring (Thanh Hai), Walking in the scent of cajuput (Hoai Vu), The first leaf (Hoang Nhuan Cam), Urbanization diary (Mai Van Phan)... As for the Chinese-Vietnamese translation contest entries (for Vietnamese contestants), there are many poems and essays excerpted from famous contemporary Chinese poets and writers.

The contest accepts entries from now until November 10, the award ceremony will be held on November 21 in the form of online and in person at the University of Foreign Languages ​​and Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City and Beijing University of Foreign Studies. Entries will be evaluated based on the criteria of accuracy - coherence - literary quality. Outstanding works will be published on the media channels of the university, the organizing unit, the Ho Chi Minh City Writers Association and the Chinese Writers Association. The contest will award 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 4 third prizes and 10 consolation prizes.
