While English is becoming an increasingly essential skill, many Vietnamese learners still have difficulty maintaining their studies using traditional methods. Meanwhile, reading is considered one of the most natural, sustainable and inspiring ways to improve a foreign language - especially reading comprehension and vocabulary building.
However, in reality, most readers easily give up halfway when encountering complex vocabulary or structures. That is why Waka wants to make reading English books a seamless, accessible and exciting experience, instead of a challenge.
With the vision of "Read to understand - Understand to learn - Learn to develop", Waka develops the "Parallel Reading - Translation" feature, helping users enjoy English book content while learning English naturally.

Readers can tap on any word to look up its Vietnamese meaning, listen to standard British-American pronunciation, see illustrative examples, and compare definitions between major dictionaries such as Oxford, Cambridge, Longman, and Google Translate. Context-understanding technology helps the translation be natural, close, and emotional.
In addition, users can practice pronunciation, understand the meaning and translate the content through just one application; or highlight, take notes and save things they like during the reading process like an electronic learning notebook.
The attractive thing is that Waka has a rich collection of foreign books, suitable for many readers and constantly updated. Some of them are “The Railway Children”, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow”, “The Tale of Peter Rabbit”, “Peter Pan”, “The Murder of Roger Ackroyd”…
Regarding the project's vision, Ms. Phung Thi Nhu Quynh, Waka representative, said: "We believe that each book not only provides knowledge but also serves as a bridge between languages and cultures. With the "Parallel Reading - Translation" feature, Waka hopes to help Vietnamese people turn reading English into an easy and enjoyable habit, thereby developing foreign language skills naturally and sustainably."
This new feature is also part of Waka's long-term strategy to apply AI technology to reading and learning, expand bilingual book stores and build a comprehensive reading and learning ecosystem for Vietnamese people.
