Accordingly, the "Long Bien Bridge Renovation Study" Technical Assistance Project utilizes non-refundable aid from the Economic Agency of the French Embassy in Vietnam through the FASEP Fund of the French Ministry of Economy and Finance, implemented over 11 months and expected to be completed in 2025, with a total investment of 710,510 Euros.
The project aims to present results on the feasibility of research solutions for ensuring structural safety and other future uses of the Long Bien Bridge, including: ensuring safety for people and vehicles using the structure, including railways, motorbikes, and pedestrians; highlighting the heritage value as it is one of Hanoi 's iconic landmarks, a historical symbol and part of Hanoi's landscape for over a century; and researching future usage scenarios for the bridge.
Regarding the project scope, Component 1: Survey, data collection and analysis, and evaluation; Component 2: Proposing short-term solutions for the renovation and repair of Long Bien Bridge to ensure traffic safety;
Component 3: Research and propose a plan for the future use of the bridge structure after the national railway line crossing the bridge ceases operation and it is handed over to the Hanoi People's Committee for management.
The Department of Transportation (the project owner) is legally responsible for the accuracy and legality of the information and data presented in the submitted adjustment documents; for organizing and managing the implementation of the investment project to ensure compliance with the law, the regulations of the City People's Committee, and the donor; and for managing and using public investment capital economically and efficiently, preventing loss and waste. It shall proactively coordinate with city departments, agencies, and relevant units to resolve difficulties and obstacles during implementation.
The relevant departments and units under the Hanoi People's Committee, according to their functions, duties, and assigned areas of management, are responsible for coordinating, guiding, and creating favorable conditions for the Department of Transport to implement the Project, ensuring progress, quality, and compliance with State regulations and donor requirements.
