Increase processing capacity to 4,000 tons/day.
According to information dated December 11th, Vietnam Agricultural Products Trading Company Limited (VAL), a joint venture between Bunge and Wilmar, announced the official inauguration of its second soybean oil pressing line at Phu My 1 Industrial Park, Ho Chi Minh City, increasing its processing capacity by an additional 4,000 tons per day.
In a context where capital supply is dependent on imports, the expansion of domestic soybean oil pressing plants like VAL not only helps to proactively secure raw material supply, providing greater flexibility and efficiency for customers, but also retains domestic added value, marking a strategic step towards national self-reliance and sustainable development of the livestock industry.

Accordingly, the expansion, combined with the first production line (operational since 2011), brings VAL's total oil pressing capacity to 7,800 tons/day, affirming its position as the leading soybean oil pressing complex in Southeast Asia. This is a significant milestone, not only marking a breakthrough in VAL's innovation and development journey but also demonstrating its practical contribution to ensuring raw material security for Vietnam's livestock and food industries.
Located on an 11.2-hectare plot of land in a strategic industrial center, the VAL complex is considered one of the most modern facilities in the region, specifically designed to optimize efficiency and ensure superior product quality. The complex includes eight high-capacity storage silos with a total capacity of 120,000 tons, equipped with a fully automated temperature and humidity control system, helping to maintain freshness, stabilize nutrients, and meet optimal processing standards.
With a total investment of over $100 million, the new production line is designed to leading international standards, integrating a comprehensive automation system along with real-time quality monitoring and control technology. These outstanding improvements optimize operational efficiency, save energy, ensure consistent product quality, and strictly adhere to the highest standards of safety and environmental protection.
When operating at full capacity, both oil pressing lines will process up to 2.6 million tons of soybeans and produce nearly 2 million tons of soybean meal annually, meeting approximately 30% of domestic animal feed demand. Accordingly, VAL commits to providing customers with fully traceable soybean meal products, on-time delivery, and the advantage of freshness – a direct result of domestic production – shortening the two-month sea freight journey typically associated with international imports.
This expansion of production capacity will significantly boost Vietnam's animal feed industry, strengthen national food security, and support sustainable growth for the domestic agricultural sector. Over the past two decades, Vietnam's livestock industry has maintained a stable growth rate of 3-5% per year, leading to a large demand for plant-based protein sources, especially soybean meal.
The project is expected to be of regional scale.
According to Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Cong Vinh, Singapore and the United States have always been among the top investors in the city, with increasingly deep and effective cooperation in many fields.
Against this backdrop, the presence and success of exemplary businesses such as Wilmar and Bunge further affirm the confidence of the business communities of both countries in Ho Chi Minh City's stable, transparent, and promising investment and business environment.
With a total investment of $100 million, the factory is expected to become a large-scale agricultural processing project in Southeast Asia, possessing modern production lines, meeting strict environmental standards, and aligning with the city's high-tech agricultural development orientation.
With its advantageous location in Phu My ward, a gateway to the city's industry, urban areas, seaports, and logistics services, and its ability to supply approximately 30% of the soybean meal market for the animal feed industry, Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh believes that the project will play a crucial role in ensuring food security, minimizing supply chain risks, and stabilizing prices for the livestock industry.
Furthermore, the project makes a practical contribution to the socio -economic development of Ho Chi Minh City, from supplementing budget revenue with an expected contribution of over 30 million USD in 2025, to creating thousands of stable jobs with high incomes. This contributes to improving the lives of the people and promoting sustainable growth for the city.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Vi, General Director of Vietnam Agricultural Products Trading Company Limited (VAL), said that the inauguration of the second soybean oil pressing line marks an important milestone in VAL's long-term strategy to expand production capacity to meet the growing demand in both domestic and international markets.
“ This demonstrates our strong commitment to supporting Vietnam’s livestock industry and promoting the national strategic goal of ensuring essential raw material supply. With one of the largest integrated production complexes in the region, operated with advanced technology and guided by a sustainable development strategy, VAL is confident in its ability to deliver tangible value to partners and the community, contributing to the development of a modern, self-reliant, and sustainable livestock industry ,” Mr. Nguyen Minh Vi affirmed.
According to Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Cong Vinh, in the coming time, with the goal of building Ho Chi Minh City into a modern, smart, and sustainable city, developing the economy with science, technology, and innovation as the main driving force, and placing people and businesses at the center and as the subjects of all policy decisions, the City is committed to continuing to improve connecting infrastructure, creating favorable conditions for the production and circulation of goods for the business community in the City, including Vietnam Agricultural Products Trading Company Limited and companies under Wilmar Group and Bunge Group.
