To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Hanoi's Old Quarter being classified as a National Historical Monument, the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board is organizing 20 exhibitions, displays, and art performances to honor its heritage values.

Thang Long, a city with a thousand years of cultural heritage, is composed of two parts: the area where the royal family lived and worked, the Imperial Citadel, and the residential area, the Old Quarter of Hanoi.

Therefore, the Old Quarter holds a special place in the development of Thang Long-Hanoi. Over the years, the Hanoi Old Quarter, now located in Hoan Kiem District, has preserved hundreds of ancient architectural buildings, along with traditional craft streets, specialized business streets, and many historical, cultural, and architectural relics associated with the history of Thang Long-Dong Do-Hanoi.

In addition to its tangible assets, Hanoi's Old Quarter also possesses many unique intangible cultural values.

In 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognized Hanoi's Old Quarter as a National Historical Monument, a designation established in 2004.

Recognizing the special value of Hanoi's Old Quarter within the capital city, Hoan Kiem district has implemented numerous conservation and preservation activities to promote its value over the years.

To celebrate the 19th anniversary of Vietnam's Cultural Heritage Day (November 23, 2005 - November 23, 2024) and the 20th anniversary of Hanoi's Old Quarter being recognized as a National Historical Monument, the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee, the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board, in coordination with various units and individuals, are organizing a series of 20 activities, including: exhibitions, art performances, seminars, etc.
