Mr. Cao Dong Vu, Director of the Institute of Nuclear Research, said that after more than 40 years of operation, the institute has achieved many important results, contributing to the application of many fields such as medicine, applied agriculture , scientific research, etc.
However, currently, the operation of the institute still faces many difficulties, especially the outdated technology system, which cannot fully exploit its available potential and is difficult to meet the requirements of breakthrough research and application.

The leaders of the Nuclear Research Institute proposed to allow the policy of researching the possibility of using new fuels and the possibility of increasing the capacity of the Dalat Nuclear Reactor (about 2-3 times compared to the current capacity of 500 kWt) with new fuels.
In addition, supplementing fuel for the Da Lat Nuclear Reactor ensures operation after 2030, until the new reactor of the Center for Nuclear Science and Technology Research comes into operation and converting the Da Lat Nuclear Reactor into a human resource training target.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Phuc, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, said that Lam Dong province always creates maximum conditions for scientists and researchers to have the best working environment.
The Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee proposed that the Ministry of Science and Technology have preferential mechanisms to retain talented people, attract scientists to contribute to the Nuclear Research Institute , and continue to contribute to the locality and the whole country.
Along with that, strengthen communication so that the research work, achievements and results of the Nuclear Research Institute are known to more people.

At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son praised the contributions of the Nuclear Research Institute to the country's socio-economic development over the past 40 years, as the cradle of Vietnam's atomic energy industry, the only place with a nuclear reactor.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested the institute to continue promoting the tradition of solidarity, innovation, and make greater efforts to fulfill its assigned tasks. Continue to effectively manage and exploit equipment, master core technology to be self-reliant in development, enhance the potential and contributions of the Vietnamese nuclear industry.
In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister also requested that the reactor operation must strictly comply with international safety standards.

In the long term, the Nuclear Research Institute must be a place to participate in research and human resource training for the two Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plants and the Nuclear Research Center in the future.
In addition, there needs to be a long-term research program, with a long-term vision, orientation, and suggestion in scientific research; attention should be paid to application for the purpose of socio-economic development, especially in the agricultural sector.
With the institute's proposals and recommendations, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son acknowledged and requested ministries, branches and Lam Dong province to study and perfect the institution in the coming time according to their functions and authority.
