This is the first time the GGF has been held to further clarify the direction, priorities, and attract the attention of countries to the EC's initiative on the Global Gateway Strategy, announced in December 2021, with the goal of promoting smart, clean, and secure connectivity in the digital, energy, and transport sectors; strengthening global health, education , and research systems; and thereby promoting sustainable development and addressing global issues.
The priority areas of the Global Gateway Strategy include: digital transformation, green energy transition, infrastructure, sustainable transport, healthcare, and research and education.
The EU plans to mobilize 300 billion euros for the period 2022-2027 to implement the projects of the strategy.
In Southeast Asia, the EU will implement key projects of the Global Gateway Strategy in Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
With the theme "Becoming Stronger Together Through Sustainable Investment," the Forum will focus on exchanging and sharing experiences in six thematic discussion sessions on promoting global investment in sustainable infrastructure.
