Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha inspects and directs flood response efforts in Da Nang.

DNO - On the afternoon of October 29th, amidst prolonged heavy rain causing widespread flooding and severely impacting the lives and livelihoods of Da Nang city residents, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha personally inspected and directed the response, rescue, and recovery efforts following the floods.

Accompanying him were Central Committee member and Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee Le Ngoc Quang; Lieutenant General Le Ngoc Hai, Commander of Military Region 5; leaders of central ministries and agencies; and Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Pham Duc An.

The working group visited the Co An Tay neighborhood in Dien Ban Dong ward to inspect the situation, where 44 households are currently severely flooded, with many completely isolated due to rising floodwaters.

Here, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and City Party Secretary Le Ngoc Quang cordially inquired about the health and living conditions of some households affected by flooding; presented gifts to support and encouraged people to strive to overcome difficulties and ensure the safety of their lives and property.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha requested the city government and relevant forces to urgently review the situation and ensure that vehicles and personnel are always ready to be on duty 24/7 to support the people.

At the same time, it should be noted that people must not be left without food, drinking water, and other essential necessities.

The Deputy Prime Minister requested that Military Region 5 and the armed forces stationed in the city closely cooperate with the local authorities, mobilizing maximum forces and resources to support rescue efforts, repair transportation infrastructure, and quickly stabilize the lives of people after the floods.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and his delegation directly surveyed the seriously eroded areas along the coastal region of Hoi An Tay ward.

Here, the inspection team visited the site and listened to detailed reports from local leaders about the landslide situation, response efforts, and the difficulties and damages that the people are facing.

After conducting an on-site assessment, the Deputy Prime Minister concluded that the erosion situation in this area is becoming increasingly complex, posing a direct threat to the lives of coastal residents and affecting transportation infrastructure and nearby public facilities.

Therefore, Da Nang city urgently needs to conduct a comprehensive review and study, selecting feasible technical and engineering solutions to sustainably address the landslide situation, while ensuring the safety of residents and protecting the landscape and environment of the area.
