According to Ms. Tran Thi Bich Tram, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of District 11, the total number of children born in the first six months of the year in the district was 719, showing an upward trend compared to the same period in 2022 (an increase of 74 children). However, District 11 is still classified as having a low birth rate compared to the rest of the city.
According to the latest data from the 2022 statistical yearbook, the average number of children per woman of childbearing age in the district is 1.39. A persistently low birth rate will lead to many negative consequences such as rapid population aging, labor shortages, and impacts on social welfare, etc.
To contribute to addressing the low birth rate problem in the district, the health sector, in coordination with other departments and organizations, is organizing a Communication Campaign integrated with the provision of services to improve the quality of the population in low-birth-rate areas in 2023.
“The campaign was implemented in 8 wards in the district from July 7th to September 7th. The campaign's activities aim to help people in the district access quality, safe, and effective services to improve population quality. In addition, there was a concentrated campaign to provide information and advice to enhance understanding of the district's population issues,” Ms. Tran Thi Bich Tram informed.
Following the launch ceremony, the District 11 Health Center, in coordination with relevant departments, organizations, and multi-specialty clinics in the area, implemented activities to provide free health check-ups and cervical cancer screening kits for 200 women, as well as free obstetric examinations and ultrasounds for pregnant mothers in District 11…
