Previously, two male workers (38 years old and 51 years old, both from Quang Tri province) were working at a construction site on Huu Nghi street when they were electrocuted, one of whom suffered cardiac arrest and stopped breathing.
Upon receiving the information, the Director of Quang Binh Friendship Hospital immediately activated the internal red alert. The patient was given CPR by doctors and nurses at the scene less than 1 minute after the accident.
After that, the two victims were taken straight to the Hospital's Emergency Department to perform advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, electric shock, ventilation support via Ambu bag, vasopressor drugs, and coordination with many specialties to treat injuries caused by electrical burns.
After nearly 15 minutes of advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, the patient's pulse returned and blood pressure improved. The patient was transferred to the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi for further monitoring and intensive treatment.
Thanks to the urgent, precise and smooth coordination of the emergency team, the patient was saved in a life-threatening situation.
Specialist II Doctor Nguyen Dai Viet Duc, Head of the Department of Intensive Care and Anti-Poisoning at the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi, said that the unit is receiving, monitoring, and treating a case of cardiac arrest due to electric shock transferred from a lower level. The patient is currently recovering well.
Specialist II Doctor Nguyen Dai Viet Duc assessed that the two patients were saved thanks to the doctors and nurses approaching the victims and providing emergency care very well and effectively.
