Quang Tri: Hospital activates red alert to save 2 electrocuted patients

On the afternoon of August 14, at a construction site near Quang Binh Friendship Hospital, Dong Hoi Ward, Quang Tri Province, two male workers were unfortunately electrocuted and passed out at the scene. Fortunately, the hospital activated the red alert and saved the two victims.

Quang Binh Friendship Hospital activated red alert to save the lives of two victims of electric shock.

Previously, two male workers (38 years old and 51 years old, both from Quang Tri province) working at a construction site on Huu Nghi street were electrocuted, one of whom suffered cardiac arrest and respiratory arrest.

Upon receiving the information, the Director of Quang Binh Friendship Hospital immediately activated the internal red alert. The patient was given CPR by doctors and nurses at the scene less than 1 minute after the accident.

Afterwards, the two victims were taken straight to the Hospital's Emergency Department to undergo advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation, electric shock, ventilation support via Ambu bag, vasopressor drugs, and coordination with many specialties to treat injuries caused by electrical burns.

After nearly 15 minutes of CPR, the patient regained his pulse and his blood pressure improved. He was transferred to the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Dong Hoi for further monitoring and intensive treatment.

Thanks to the urgent, precise and smooth coordination of the emergency team, the patient was saved in a life-threatening situation.

Specialist II Doctor Nguyen Dai Viet Duc, Head of the Intensive Care and Anti-Poison Department of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital Dong Hoi, said that the unit is receiving, monitoring, and treating a case of cardiac arrest due to electric shock transferred from a lower level. The patient is currently recovering well.

Specialist II Doctor Nguyen Dai Viet Duc assessed that the two patients were saved thanks to the doctors and nurses approaching the victims and providing first aid very well and effectively.
